Using SV1 as a midi controller w/ Alicia's Keys library

Post by MIAplaysthepiano »

I'm a bit of a tech newbie!

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I was planning on buying the Alicia keys piano software... but is it possible to use these sounds live? As in, gigs, shows, etc.

I have a Korg SV-1 stage piano... it does have Midi in/out and many other inputs/outputs like usb... but is there a seperate device I could buy to run through to let me use the sounds... or do I just run it from my macbook pro? (Keeping quality alive).

I do hope someone can help!!

Mia.

I perform live with a laptop all the time. There's absolutely no reason why you couldn't do this.

Using your Macbook will be the cheap option, since you already have one. The only other reasonable device for playing back VSTs is the Muse Receptor, basically a rackmount computer built for audio playback, and it'll run you somewhere around $2,000.
