KORG KONTROL 49 - Dead keys problem

Post by floroose »

My kontrol 49 was working perfectly, until a textbook was placed upon the pads or control buttons and now certain keys do not play sound when I play.

(E1, C2, G#2, E3, C4, G#4 are notes which don't play sound.)

I have tried playing the keyboard through Ableton, Reason and Garageband but no luck so I think perhaps something weird has been programmed into the pads resulting in no sound - Is there a reset button or something? Manual doesn't seem so say so.. :?

Hi! I got an identical (...!) problem yesterday on my brand new Kontrol 49. Did you find any solution?

Cheers,

Pop the sucker open, and take a look at the ribbon cable.

Also, see if you can reseat the pads. It may have to do with something like the Kontrol49 initializing the state, and if the pads are configured to send these notes (in the scene), and the pads are physically pressed, then it might initialize with Note On signal. What happens when there are two Note On signals sent in a row? Nothing?

(I guess I'm actually asking, just starting off with MIDI as of... well... two days ago)

Peace,

Matt

Dead Keys Solved

Post by Funkafarius »

Take the entire keyboard apart and reset ALL ribbon cables and wires. Try this, once you have it all apart connect it via USB to a computer and try triggering the dead keys and while resetting the ribbon and wires. The reason you need to take it all apart is because the wires that I reset that got my keyboard working are not accessible by just removing back plate. Its pretty easy. My works great now!! Hope this helps.
