Kaossilator Pro MIDI Keyboard Interface.

This application allows the KO-PRO to be played with a standard MIDI keyboard.

The biggest problem with the KO-PRO is that pitch and note on/off messages are transmitted and received as control change MIDI data when outside external control mode. There have been attempts to resolve this issue by creating maps to translate pitch data into control data using Logic Pro or MIDI-OX. The trouble is that several different maps are required and there is no documentation available that defines the maps or tells the user which map is used for each voice.

This application resolves this problem by using a map matrix which I have created in which each map can be assigned to a voice. A function is provided to edit the map matrix, and although I hope it won't be necessary, I am not guaranteeing that every note on every map on every voice is accurate.

The application can also be used to assign the modulator wheel and/or after touch to control the y-axis, arpeggiator time and speed.

System requirements.

The application works in conjunction with MIDI OX which is a freeware program that can be downloaded from the MIDI OX website. http://www.midiox.com/

The application is written in Visual Basic 6 SP6 and has been tested on Windows XP SP3. I don't have access to Vista or Windows 7 so I don't know if it will work on these operating systems. If anyone wants to test it and let me know, that would be great.

I have tested it with an M-Audio Axiom 25 and a Yamaha DJX so I see no reason at all why it shouldn't work with other keyboards.

Terms of use.

This is freeware and both the application and the VB source code are available for download from my website. If anyone wants to modify or expand the functionality, especially to use the Windows MIDI APIs instead of the MIDI OX APIs then please feel free to do so. Again, it would be good if you let me know, so I can update my web page.

@englishhermit - you are awesome for taking the time to do this and then share it.

Has anyone accomplished this same thing for Mac users and Ableton Live? Would love to be able to play my KO Pro from my MPK49. Thx.
