Radias Wobble Bass

Post by Blankman8503 »

I recently purchased the Radias, which I control and sequence via Ableton 8.1.3. I have created my own sounds on the R3 and in DAWs, but am new to the more complicated synth style of the Radias. I have created the sound that I am looking to use for my bass but have been unable to figure out the wobble aspect that I am trying to achieve. I have been messing with the V-patches to try to achieve this.

Also in creating wobble basses in DAWs, I have been able to set the range of my wobble (ie: 1 measure to 1/32 frequency of the wobble). Can I do this on the Radias or will a setup like that need to be done from within the DAW? Furthermore I have experimented with having buttons on a MIDI controller, through a DAW, assigned to each of the wobble frequencies that i wish to use. So instead of trying to turn a knob to an exact point to get a desired frequency all i need to do is trigger a button to switch from one frequency to another. Will i be able to assign MIDI controls like that to control the radias?

Any aid anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Until then I shall continue sifting through the manual and trial and error.

Thanks,

Chris

well i dont know much about Ableton but i know if you switch the lfo your using to change the cutoff to bpm sync then you can set it to diffrent measures according to the tempo like 1/16, 1/8 ect. then change that frequency just by turning the assigned knob. But as for pressing one button to change the frequency im not sure if you can do it through midi. you could just change it manually though. :D

When setting BPM sync, does the radias set a range for each measure difference or is every CC # a slightly different rate, like without BPM Sync? Also can i set the minimum and maximum ranges? For example setting the range from 2 measures to 1/32.

Also any help on how to set up the v patches to make the lfo create the wobble?

you set up the wobble patching a lfo to cuttoff. The patch intensity should control both maximum and minimum range equally while the lfo freq should control the speed of the wobble. I'm sure there are other ways to do it but usually use a couple detuned saws mid cutoff on lpf, patch sine lfo to cutoff(this is key), adjust freq, cutoff and v patch intensity to taste. Just play around with it. There is a thousand ways to do it try effects different lfos waves the only thing you really need is a lfo to the cutoff.
As for the bpm sync it should match up accordingly if the clocks are syncd
I hope hope this answers your question :D
