Can't get DAWs to hear EMX1's audio signal.

Post by Evologix »

Hello,

I would like to record my audio tracks from the EMX1 into acidpro. I currently use Acid Pro 4.0 (old, i know, but works like a charm for basic recording)

My problem is that when I connect my emx1 to the pc (audio out on the korg to audio in on the pc) I can't get any signal. I pull that same chord out of the emx1 and put it into any of my other keyboards and I can get a nice hot signal, so I know it's not a matter of plugging it in wrong. Also, I've tried different DAW's just for further troubleshooting and I get the same thing.

Have there been issues with EMXs having bad line outs? Or am I missing something really obvious.

Please help me out if you know what I'm talking about. Cheers :)

OK..Which audio out jack are you using? Start with L/Mono. Use that one. Then go to edit part and make sure that your sounds are routed to go through that out, and not outs 3 and 4.

No matter what out bus (only have 2 choices L/R and 3/4) , the emx will not allow it's sound to be recorded. The connection is fine, as all my other instruments can record fine at this time with the same cable.

I plugged it into my home stereo and it works fine, so I don't think the jacks are broke or not connecting.

I hit record in Acid and play on the emx, but nothing goes down on wax. :(

This should not be a difficult procedure.

I'm sure the problem is configurational.

Check your input assignments & driver in the DAW.

All systems go. emx will not record. As I said above, the connection works fine for every other single piece of equipment I record with, and have been recording with for a while.

I was wondering if there is some switch in the emx that needs to be flipped so it sends an audio signal.

No, there isn't (what would be the point of that?!) but there is a Mute per part, and you could have Solo'd a part which isn't playing, or something else silly.

which is why I asked in that other thread if you can get sound out of the EMX if you use headphones or conenct it to an amp, mixer or monitors, to rule out problems with the computer

do you mean you plugged the EMX into your stereo? and you got sound? if so, then it's not the EMX

What would be the point of that?!?!?! I dont' know?!?!?! Oh I got it! I didn't have the power turned on. Damn I should have checked the manual!?!?!

I didn't know this was a fanboy, "go read the manual" forum. After reading some of your unsavory answers to beginners I'd ask "What is the point of this forum?!?!?!

if the answer's in the manual, what's wrong with pointing people to it?
RTFM is nothing to with being a fanboy, it's just sensible.

good luck sorting out your recording issue
