Questions from a newbie (switch, recording & joystick)

Post by mclarren »

Hello! =)

I am new to this forum and also completely new to the world of keyboards and synthesizers, so I have been having some issues while getting everything up and running. So far there have been three major problems and it would mean the world to me if I got them straightened out:

1) I'd really like to know how to switch sounds via a switch pedal, but I don't know how to program it/whatever you do about it. What do I need, and how do I do it?

2) How do I record what I play to my PC? All I get is crappy MIDI-tones, but I want the actual sound. How do I do it?

3) I want my joystick to drop down -12 instead of just -2, so how can I apply this on every sound and also keep the setting after the keyboard is turned off?

Hope it wasn't too much and thanks in advance!

1) Go to global settings, and search for the connections page, there you'll se the assignment of every imput. Select switch pedal and assign it to "Program Up". Connect the pedal and have fun!

2) You want to record audio? Then you need an audio interface. You can also record with the line in jack of the onboard sound card, but its crappy audio. With an interface you get better sound quality, and dedicated controls. I recommend Fast Track Pro, if you only intend to use it for home recording.

3) Select a program. Go to OSC settings, pitch page. In the top you'll se Joy X bend rate, change Joy -X to -12, and that's it!

Thank you for the answers - you saved me a lot of time and patience. There aren't many that know so little about these things as me, but I'm a fast learner, so soon I'll be able to stand on my own feet ;-)

About the recording - can you use a MIDI to USB-cable to record sound? I guess not, but if there is some way it's worth asking...

And one more thing: every time I try to load a different patch, all the other combis and programs disappear. Luckily they weren't that complicated to make but it would be great to get some help with this.

1.- You guess right. It´s impossible to record sound throught USB cable.

2.- I´m not sure it you´re talking about sequencer mode. I need more details if you want help from us.

Bummer... guess I'll have to go back to the music store again. But hey, that's at least fun!

2. Ok, this is my problem. I bought some .PCG - files and put them on my SD-card. When I get to Media-mode I press the "Load"-tab and load one of the .PCG-files (they appear in the D-bank in combi-mode). So far so good. When I however try to upload the next .PCG-file from my SD-card it not only overwrites the previous loaded files but also the custom programs I've made.

You have another choice. Slower but safer. Instead of loading the PCG files directly, try to open the file and even you can listen to any patch before loading it. If you like it, you can load it where you want, cause it appears a dialog box asking the place to save it. So you will not overwrite any of your patches.

By the way, just curiosity, where did you get the patches?

Wow, thanks a lot! Now I have all the combis in place! Sure went slow, but it's totally worth it! To answer your question - I bought them at marketplace.space4keys.com, and I really recommend visiting the website if you haven't already (hope the rebuilding is finished by now...). They have some really great and inspiring sounds! If you know some other sites, please let me know! (:

And again, many thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions, but now I'm all good.
