Cue Lists
I have 6 songs on a SD card. I know they are on the SD card because I put the card in my card reader and looked at it . I want to set up my first cue list. The manual has about 50 references to 'cue list' but nothing seems to work. On the Seq. 2.1 Cue list page, I eventually push F4(insert) to add songs, All I ever get is 'new song'. It never gives me the chance to add even 1 of my songs. Could someone give me a simple step by step idea of how to 'add new cue list', insert song into cue list???

ouch
hmmmm 76 looks and no replies. I must be asking the wrong question.
If I could just physically see one of these cue lists I've heard of I might have a clue. I must say, I can't imagine much of a list on an LCD that size.

A sequencer song file contains all of the songs in (the entire contents of) the sequencer.
A cue list puts these in a specific order, referencing their song number.
So you need to load your songs into the sequencer first. To load multiple songs, make sure for your 2nd, 3rd, etc. song you select the 'append' rather than 'clear' option.
'Clear' will empty out the sequencer before loading the song(s) in the file. 'Append' on the other hand will load them into the next free slot.

closer to a cue list
X... Thankyou for the excellent response. I do understand the concept completely - however the mechanics of actually doing it are still beyond me.
For one thing, I have never yet seen the word 'append' on my Korg Tr.
I've gotten this far:
In seq. mode.
2. cleared the song to start over
3. in media mode, select my song (seeing it on the card) load selected
4. back in seq mode, the song is there - working
That is where I'm beat.
All I can do now in media mode is (utility) load selected which doesn't help.
If I switch back to seq mode and Menu I can choose Cue. From there I cannot access the songs on the card - only 'new song' Utility mode gives me nothing logical - maybe 'copy song' - but that doesn't do anything useful.
I have talked to a product expert in Montreal - but he doesn't have a TR there so can't really help other than point out the (detailed but useless) manual.
He says he will research it.
What I guess I need is a very step by step 'How to' from someone who can actually look at a Tr. -or some kind soul who has actually created a cue list. After several months of frustration, I remain hopeful.

When you 'load' your song file, a dialog box should come up with the option of 'clear' or 'append'. I can't remember exactly because it is different on my KARMA.

page 73
Last night I finally had what I thought was a cue list of sorts. I had a new song with about 10 songs appended to it and I thought I saved it under the name '1 keyboard'. I could button down from one song to another. Sadly, today the song is gone- or the cue list - I'm not sure which. So I'll try again and see if I can save successfully. ( my song memory is not protected)
Question: on page 73 of the manual is a picture of this elusive cue list. Is this just an illustration of how it works, or this what an actual cue list is supposed to look like?
Can you save a cue list to 'media' or does it go into RAM?
Why don't I see anywhere 'Load song' or 'Load cue list'?

save
OK I'm back to where I was 12 hours ago. I have a new song with a bunch of songs appended. I can 'scroll' from one song to another, I've renamed the cue list. Apparently renaming it, isn't 'saving' it. I note with interest you can rename cue list, copy cue list, delete cue list - but you can't actually 'save' it. What's up???
The song is called 'new song' and nowhere do I see a 'save song'. Thus I assumed it stays in RAM, but that doesn't seem to be the case, since I lost it last night.
I still don't SEE this elusive 'cuelist'. How do I get a 'LIST'?

You don't save a 'cue list' nor do you save a 'song' what you actually save is the entire contents of sequencer mode. That includes the cue list.
So when you load all those sequencer files with all your songs into the sequencer, and set up the cue list, then you go back to Media mode and 'Save SEQ' again, to save the contents of the sequencer. That means cue lists, RPPR patterns, arpeggiator assignments, effects routings, program numbers, mix levels, and the actual tracks and songs themselves.
So next time you load the file you saved, you'll have all 10 songs loaded and the cue list along with it.
Nothing to do with the sequencer is stored in 'RAM', it is lost after poweroff. Its a 'project' environment kind of, just like when you open a computer program, normally your document you last worked on isn't automatically loaded, instead you get a blank slate, and you can then load/save/etc.
Hope that helps!

end this pain
I want to thank all for all the help - but I just can't 'get it'. So...I'll forget about it, when I play 'live' I just stay in combi mode and it's not so bad.
As I've said, I can't imagine much of a 'list' with an LCD that size anyway.

lookin' at your post - - do you make 1 sequence & then load it to your smart card? Just asking cause your keyboard can make more than 1 sequence at a time. This might be your problem - now I'm still not very well-versed with the Korg sequencer I just recently discovered this( my thinking was" well - you can write only 1 sequence& then save what good is a cue list ?" On the Korg you can write as many songs as you like by highlighting on your screen the name of song ( has to have a real & titled song in there or it will say new song .) push your numbers pad #2 & it will say new song.Take your second seq. & place it into that slot ( make sure clear says append when loading)& so on until you have all ten songs loaded. Then save ALL(make sure to put a check in all the boxes that will come up.) Hope this helps but remember I'm a beginner too.

Save ALL is a bit pointless unless you are working with specific samples or programs for your song. You don't need KMPs and KSFs and PCG files for just a song. This is what 'save SEQ' is for. It will still save all songs in the sequencer.Larry Satterlee wrote:lookin' at your post - - do you make 1 sequence & then load it to your smart card?
