R3 Microphone question?
hello I'm new here, got my korg r3 a few weeks ago, I like the fact that it got a microphone but I'm not that found of the whole vocoder thing.
I want to use the microphone without any vocoder and with some reverb
right now I have figured out how to use the microphone without going true the vocoder but then its just dry.
[shift + vocoder]
so right now when I want to use the R3 microphone with reverb I need to
select vocoder preset nr 8 ( clean signal ) and ad some reverb
but then I have to push down the keys to get the sound from the mic .
so my question is
can I use the microphone (with out any vocoder effect) with reverb at the same time as I play the synth?
Thank you

You need something like this.
The R3 isn't designed to provide independent vocal effects separate from what's being played on the synth, and it makes little sense to use it that way. It's like asking if you can use the tail pipe on your car as a bong. Well, I suppose you could... but then it wouldn't be a very good bong...would it?

Re: R3 Microphone question?
1st: TO enable "stickykeys" so you can talk without having to keep pressing keys- Turn Arpeggiator ON, LATCH, and in parameter 32 (Arpeg-A) set all the steps to ON, set the "Type" to "Trigger" (2nd knob). In parameter 33 (Arpeg-B), set the "GateTime" ( to "100%". Now pres any key once and you'll be able to talk into the mic without interruption.R2 wrote:hello I'm new here, got my korg r3 a few weeks ago, I like the fact that it got a microphone but I'm not that found of the whole vocoder thing.

2nd: TO patch Effects, simply experiment around with parameters 29-31. These will be applied to the Audio In, as well as any other sound that travels through the keyboard.

You missed the key part of the question that makes your suggestions useless: "... at the same time as I play the synth?"dominobrowny44 wrote:1st: TO enable "stickykeys" so you can talk without having to keep pressing keys- Turn Arpeggiator ON, LATCH, and in parameter 32 (Arpeg-A) set all the steps to ON, set the "Type" to "Trigger" (2nd knob). Because all audio for the effects must go through the timbre of a program, it will always interfere with the playing of the synth.

Re: R3 Microphone question?
Right you are. My bad. In that case- no, you can't do that. But hey- it was a somewhat useful tip...xmlguy wrote:You missed the key part of the question that makes your suggestions useless: "... at the same time as I play the synth?"dominobrowny44 wrote:1st: TO enable "stickykeys" so you can talk without having to keep pressing keys- Turn Arpeggiator ON, LATCH, and in parameter 32 (Arpeg-A) set all the steps to ON, set the "Type" to "Trigger" (2nd knob). Re: R3 Microphone question?
Your tip is very useful for anyone who wants to use the FX on audio, if they don't need to use the synth for much else at the same time, so I'm certainly not criticizing you for volunteering the information and trying to help.dominobrowny44 wrote: Right you are. I know on the radias i have an envelope follower, i set the source to the input
trigger threshold to 000 and i can apple affects to it (it uses 1 timbre) and then i have just use the radias as an effect processor, while also playing synth parts on another timbre
maybe you can do something similar on R3?
