kaoss and fx pedals
I'm looking for a way to add fx to my kaossilator and /or my es1. The norm would be a mini kp . I started looking at pedals and found the px5d. It seems the px5d has many more fx and can do several at once, plus it comes with software and can record. However, it's known as a guitar fx and I don't see where it's ever used with a synth. Is there any reason not to use it with a synth? Is there a better solution. Is it simpler to use than the px4d? Thanks for any input

I have no experience in this, but often wondered myself. It's definitely possible as I have read about people using wah pedals to effect an EMX

There's usually one big difference between guitar fx and synth fx: guitars are assumed to be mono while synths are stereo.
Even though guitar FX might have stereo aux ins, stereo outs, and even effects that have stereo output, the input is usually monophonic into the effects. Synth effects maintain the stereo input and often let you control the panning and other related stereo parameters (like stereo separation) on the effects.

It's been done countless times. I hooked up a series of pedals to a Monotron. The 1st in the chain is an eq pedal to tame the hiss and low output of the synth. The last is a preamp. It works perfect (or almost perfect).
I just received a Kaossilator yesterday. Haven't hooked up any pedals yet, but I can tell you, it being digital, it's gonna have a hot(ter) signal. In this case, people would suggest using an attenuator.
I have both the Stylophone Synth and Beatbox and they both have hot signals when used with 'my pedals'. It depends on what pedals you use too. Some play better than others when hooked up to synths, drum machines, etc.
If I could upload a photo, I'll show you my current setup.

Of course, different pedal placement will create different effects. I had a Yamaha mixing board in the past but sold it. Gotta invest in a new one. Maybe something different this time around. I've owned some gear in the past, but like the mixer, I sold it. So my current 'low budget' setup is my way to get back into making some music and/or noise.
I'm not sure what you mean by a digital hot signal but I think I may have encountered that when I plugged into a small Marshal amp and the low end bass was so distorted I couldn’t turn the volume down enough to clear it up. I also had a problem with another amp that seemed to have too much gain from the ko-1. It sounds great thru the ear buds, on soundcloud, some pa systems, even ipod speakers but problems with amps. Do you think running thru a mixer would fix that? or would it need a pre amp or a attenuator ( never heard of that before). Your are going to love the KO-1. I'm thinking of getting a tascam dr-3. I hope that works. the beauty of the KO-1 is the portability so I don't want to have to lug around too much more gear. Maybe a tiny battery powered pre amp? is there such a thing?
attenuators
I see a bunch on ebay from 3.50 to 1500.00 with several in the 25.00 range. They are used to control volume on gutar tube amps. I have no idea which one would work with the ko-1 looks like they are set up to work with the amp not the instrument . Would something like this work?
NOS stereo (dual ganged) 10K ohm A (audio taper) potentiometer volume controls. or this
Fender Tube Amp Voume Box, Volume Attenuator, Hot Box
They don't look like they are set up to be stero. I'm guessing I would plug the ko-1 into the in put and the amp into the out.
