Kaossilator vs Mini Kaoss Pad

Post by anilnc »

Hello there,
I'm a composer and just looking to buy this kaossilator. But then I saw mini KP which was few bucks less in price which can fit my budget. But according to the video reviews I learnt that the mini KP does have only effects. But do anyone own it can tell me if it does have tones like it has in Kaossilator? I was impressed with Kaossilator for the tones it has and the portamento ability which is very useful for indian scales and compositions. If the mini Kaoss pad has all those 100 tones plus those effects, then I will buy mini KP.

Please share and help me decide.

Thanks

Yes, the Kaossilators are synthesizers, while the Kaoss Pads are effects boxes.
The MiniKP doesn't have the 100 voices that the Kaossilator does; it's used for adding effects to music.

Thanks hazabikit. Do you use Kaossilator? Is there any inputs in kaossilator? Like if I can connect my triton tones and apply x-y pad?

the kaossilator (original) doesnt have any inputs only RCA out. the Kaossilator Pro has RCA in and RCA out and a very limited selection of effects (mostly vocoders) to use the X-Y pad to modulate the audio passing thru it. but as u said in your original post u're looking at the mini-kp and kaossilator (not the kaossilator pro) and that thats where your budget lies If u're looking just for sound generation, go with the kaossilator... if u need effects go with the mini-kp.

mini-kp = effects
kaossilator = synth

if you are willing to wait and save up.. the kaoss pad 3 or kaossilator pro might be better suited for your needs.

have a look at the Korg site for more info on the Kaoss series:

do some more research online until u're sure of what u need or want

Thanks punpkomg, I think I'll either wait for Kaossilator pro or get Kaossilator. Thanks
