How you doing guys, I had a Triton Classic before which I thought it was a fine machine, a bit outdated today, currently I have a Roland Juno-G and I miss the "fatness's" of the Korg sounds so I was considering switching over to a Korg TR which will cost me almost nothing compared to if I was going to get a M50 or a M3, money is an issue here. I read that the TR has less simultaneous effects, could that cripple the sound too much?; my question to you TR owners is: Is the TR an advance over the Classic or is it just a slightly tweaked version of a 1999 made worstation?
Thanks!
Well you are right, the TR series is really a newer model of the LE series. The big differences between the LE/TR and the full Tritons is the IFX. Full Tritons have 5 where as the LE/TR only have 1. Many find this rather limiting when tryign to create their own patches.
The other major differences are the TR/LE series DO NOT have touch screens, nor can you expand them with any of the EXB sound expansion cards like you can a full Triton. So no MOSS option for the LE/TR.
You CAN however upgrade the LE/TR memory and add in the EXB-SMPL sampler card to record your own samples into the LE/TR.
I will say this about the TR. It was mentioned that some of its piano samples were the same taken from the OASYS or something along those lines. Like when they recorded the Piano samples for the OASYS they also used those same samples for the TR. So many feel the pianos in the TR and somewhat better than those of the LE and older full Tritons. Also the TR uses and SD card while most of the older full Tritons used a floppy drive.
Hope this helps.

Tim
