R3 sound editor
hello I got a question about the R3 sound editor.
I downloaded the ms2k soundbank
my question is:
how can I try out the sounds in the editor with out loosing (or overwriting) the sounds I already got in my R3, I really don't want to loose my sounds but I want to hear what the R3 editor has to offer

If the sounds on the R3 are the original presets, then you can't lose them. There's a backup copy you can restore from the ROM at any time. Read the manual to find out how.
If the R3 contains programs that were modified from the presets, then you can use the editor to save them to a file on your computer.
You can do File, New from the menu. Then to a read all from the R3. Then do File Save from the menu.

You can't mix two sounds together instantly from the editor, but you can do it on the machine using the steps below. Keep in mind that this will only work properly if both patches are programmed on a single timbre. Dual layered or split patches can't be stacked since they already take up both timbres.
1. Save the two patches to separate locations on the R3. Write down the location of where you save the second patch.
2. Dial in which patch you want as TIMBRE 1. It will become the left hand sound if you want to play a split patch.
3. Go to the VOICE settings and select either LAYER or SPLIT, then press the TIMBRE 2 button.
4. Hold SHIFT and press COPY TIMBRE and select the of the location of the second patch you saved, then press COPY TIMBRE again. From here, the menu should display "SrcTmb>1" on top and "DstTmb:2" on the bottom. Press COPY TIMBRE twice to confirm, play around with the keys to make sure it's good, then WRITE the patch to save it.
Pretty handy feature which I wish every synth had.

Yes you can and it is very easy. Just open a window for the program with the timbre you want to copy from, and one for the program you want to copy the timbre to. In the destination program, ensure that the voice mode in the VOICE section is selected as a layer (if layering is what you want - but making splits this way is equally easy), then click hold on the little target icon next to the TIMBRE 1 or TIMBRE 2 header in red in the source program, and simply drag it into the destination timbre in the destination program.Re-Member wrote:You can't mix two sounds together instantly from the editor.
Thanks, never knew that was even possible, haha. Makes switching around sounds even easier.slug wrote:Yes you can and it is very easy.
