SV-1 Tape Echo

Post by Ritmo-De-Shuffle »

Hi Guys...

I've LOVED my SV-1 73 for just over a year now and it's still surprising, tantilising and inspiring me.

It's a brilliant bit of kit. I have no gripes with it, but there's one thing I wish it would do...

I use the editor frequently, tuning the amps, playing with the instruments and tweaking the effects.

The Tape Echo is lush, but you can only modify the tempo of the Stereo Delay through the front panel (via the tap button). I'd give anything to be able to tweak the Tape Echo on the fly - live.

I know the board is capable of what I want it to do, but it can only be done via the editor. You can hear the effect I'm looking for if you modify the tempo when you're plugged in to your PC, get the tape delay going and change the speed.

I understand that using the tap button might cause an "unrealistic" effect - suddenly jumping from 400ms to 100ms might be too "harsh," but would there be any way to assign the tempo to another knob? If not, just the tap tempo would be good enough!!!

Is there any reason why it can't be modified on the front panel?

Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, workarounds or a job at Korg? :)

Hmmm - I've written quite a lot, but I can't find a solution anywhere and I'm super-eager!

Happy jamming and thanks for any help!

James.

P.S. I totally dig the Wurli 200s and especially the Vintage Piano in the second Soundpack too. The Honky-Tonk was "bit much," and the Vintage Piano is the perfect plug for a much needed hole.

C'mon - this would be so nice.

I had another idea. I'll finally get an expression pedal next week - could the Tape Delay tempo be assigned to the pedal? It would definitely sound realistic!

Please, does anyone have any other ideas?

Hack the OS? ;)

I second that !

for me it would be so easy and convenient that the "tap" button could set the Tape DELAY tempo "on the fly".

i'm in a similar boat, would love to control a few different SV-1 things that you can't reach from the front panel...

i've got an expression pedal but i can't see how one gets that to do anything other than volume or wah...

i've also got a spindoctor (kenton, purple thing, 16 MIDI assignable pots) and if i could find out which MIDI CC number or NRPN number to assign to a pot that might do it, but i'm having trouble finding this information out...

x

happy sv-1 ing - i love mine too x
