update - now had it nearly 2 weeks

Post by tommy1340millar »

I've been here at various times over the last few days, and every time I start to post, I can't think of anything smart or witty to say.
12 days in, 12 gigs done, and I'm still blown away with this keyboard!
It certainly feels to me like a more logical progression from Pa1x-pro, and more like the Pa2x-pro wanted to be, or should've been. (my opinions only)
It certainly needs tweeking for me, as (In common with Pa1x-pro) most of the styles seem set up for melody/lead playing in the right hand, whereas I tend to chord with left hand, comp with right and sing over the top. Most of the stuff I carried over from Pa2x-pro is very R.H. heavy, but rather than lift the acc volumes, I've been lowering the RH volumes, and trying to balance them against the factory styles before saving them.
Once more, I'm trying NOT to make it sound like my Pa2x-pro, but rather, use it as a new instrument.
The Maxx audio bit is a complete revelation used live - remember all the postings about the EQ on Pa2x-pro, well this is better to the Nth degree.

I thought that as well. I did like the PA2X but like you I think the PA3X is what the PA2X should have been.

Would you care to share what sort of MAXX audio settings you're using when gigging? What's your sound system?

Cheers

I second that Question.

Particularly people with a Bose System, if anyone could give some ideas as to what Settings they use for the Maxx System as it sounds like it is somewhat essential to get a decent sound....

I am using the Bose system, but I have not used the MaxxAudio software at all....had no need really...sounds pretty good as it is.

Mind you, I have tweaked out every factory style, with swapping drumkits and basses, muting out a lot of parts and re-adjusting volumes etc, so maybe that's why I have not felt the need to use MaxxAudio...

But if someone wants to post up settings I am happy to experiment with the PA3 and the Bose!!

Dennis, do you use just (or mainly) Styles, or do you use Midi Sequences &/or MP3s...?

On our gigs we use about 95% Midis/Mp3s and 5% Arranger functions.
(Sometimes 90/10 Split).

I only ask because I suspect that's where the difference in sound lies.....

HB, my ratio is approx 65% backing tracks (midi/mp3) and 35% styles....

Most if not ALL the styles have volume levels noticeably lower than backing tracks.
