Oasys owners do not be fooled aging , this is not the real story .

The real story is this ------>
Why in the HELL did the Oasys not get the SGX-1 and EP-1 acoustic and electric pianos ?

The Oasys was built to run theses programs . I don't want a discount to by a Kronos , I want the EXi's you said you would give the Oasys as you develop them , Korg did say that , yes they did .
So Korg lied and it's FU*ked Up!

Any body remember this (listen carefully at 1:25 to 1:45 )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQJhpWvqqK4

So Korg if you really want to do right by Oasys
give it the SGX-1 and EP-1. It's the only true way to make all Oasys owners happy with this .
I would like to here from Dan to tell us how hard would that be .

So Dan (or any other expert on Korg technology here ) how hard would it be for Korg to give the Oasys the SGX-1 and EP-1 pianos ?
You are freaking kidding me. So if they give you THE PIANOS for free, you'll probably say you want a free SSD. And if you get that, are you just going to ask for a free Kronos?

CAN'T YOU JUST SAY THANKS!?!?

They didn't HAVE to give anybody anything for free ya know.

-Mc
I gave gratitude in my 1st post not the 2nd . Check it out .

OK your doing the same thing Ozy used to do .

All I asked for is what Korg marketed to us expansion samples (EXs) , expansion effects (which we never got) (EXfs) , and expansion instruments (EXi) as they developed them . That's it , simple .

My thing is they can do it , it's not like they developed new technology for the kronos , it's the same freaking thing .

I don't know where your getting free this and that from .

From this quote from you:

Where did Korg promise THIS in the OASYS literature or advertisements? They didn't. They are giving 3 free EXi's and you ask for more because you feel you are entitled to all the benefits of the Kronos.

I don't get this logic at all. I really, really don't. Do you also want Set List mode? A new system board? At what point will you truly be satisfied so you can move on with your life?
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

SGX EP1..... 8-[

We're getting a little carried away here...

They might decide to retract the offer of free Unlocking codes if were getting too demanding and greedy :-# and not to mention,I've already bought an SV1 :?

At least wait until we've all had a letter in the post first and got our free unlocking codes!!

On a serious note,I'm very greatful to Korg if this is true, its restored a little faith in them I Kind of lost over the Oasys support!

Would be interesting to know what percentage of Oasys owners already purchased all of these and if Korg are aware of exactly how many Owners never unlocked the Engines, given its only around 3000+ units sold there must be a reason why they decided to do this for free(other than a goodwill gesture) especially considering revenue they potentially are losing

The 4 gig Pianos require Disk Streaming, which the OASYS does not have.

This will be my last comment on this topic, which I'm sure you'll all be pleased about!

This is another cost saving exercise of the OASYS program (it appears to me). Korg gets a massive benefit in the 'flattening' of the OASYS/Kronos field.

Imagine - Korg would have to maintain and support the unlock website for as long as there was still one, yes, just one working unlocked OASYS out there! How long would that be - 20 years; maybe more?!

Korg gets a lot more out of it than anyone on these boards - that's why they've done it. They've not done because they sit there loving O users - well we know that don't we? How much proof do we need they don't think that? What's it called again?

Oh yes, Kronos - the biggest betrayal of the lot.

I'm done.

Yes, I paid for all the upgrades (back in the day!), and I am not that dissapointed that Korg now are giving them away for free, except for the fact that the re-sale value of my Oasys has dropped even more thanks to this..

I understand that SGX-1 can't work on the Oasys, as it requires disc streaming. But what about EP-1? Shouldn't that be able to work in the Oasys? And if so: wouldn't THAT be the ultimate thank you note from Korg to us Oasys owners?

Only if your crazy enough to want to sell it for a loss, after all what other alternatives do you have except for the Kronos, which even with what it's got over the Oasys isn't IMHO worth the cost to ditch or trade in an Oasys against the Kronos, personally if your lucky enough to be able to afford a kronos too, then it would perhaps make more sense at current secondhand prices to keep the Oasys if you bought it new full sale price..

I'm not sure how many Oasys owners have decided to ditch it in favour of a Kronos,(would say not that many)but for those that did or those who are about to.........

Korg are giving these codes for free now on the Oasys, which kind of makes it on par in a sense with Kronos seeing as they are free in the newer machine, would it not be more diplomatic to offer some kind of significant rebate on the purchase of the Kronos if you bought a new Oasys and plug ins rather than just a discount for new Libraries as a token gesture, when probably most Oasys users perhaps are not even considering to buy a Kronos, with a massive rebate its sort of an incentive to want to upgrade/sideshift

I'm not just talking a few dollars/Pounds but maybe a few hundred as an offset to buying those Codes if you so wish to purchase a new Kronos,it also would maybe help soften the blow for those who are considering selling on the Oasys to get a Kronos without losing any further money now that all secondhand Oasys's will essentially be on the same Level in the extra's respect.

Well after all the moaning I've done about stopping support for Oasys I can't really complain about Mr. Kato's letter offering free codes. I don't currently have MOD-7 or Brass & Woodwinds so I do get something for free.

As I have said ad nauseum on this very forum I would never have paid for them so no actual monetary loss to Korg.

For Korg this was always going to be a damned if we do, damned if we don't issue. Having just had my house burgled and new Jaguar XF stolen from the garage (while my family was asleep upstairs) I am happy to put things in perspective and take advantage.

Thanks, Mr. Kato.

PS. Now, about that sequencer...........

PPS. The thieves took my daughter's ipod but ignored the Oasys......amusing responses on a postcard please........

Sorry for your unfortunate situation, need there hands chopping off...Scumbags...

As for them not taking the Oasys...well given its resale value, even they probably realised its worth naf all

I would hazard a guess that its not exactly easy to sell on or even walk out with it under your arm!!and its not the sort of pinched item you could easily get rid of like an ipod

I received the letter this morning. KORG Sticker Included. I paid for all mine, but then again, i wasn't looking 3+ years ahead waiting for them to be free.

What could happen now though, is FREE sounds/Combis (like the HD1/HD2 prog/comb's I think there called), with ALL sounds from LAC, MOD 7, EXs BRASS included, as EVERYONE will now have access to these sounds. So its like a "Generel-midi" instrument, were every OASYS user is alike.

The thieves were caught in another stolen car......they were pursued by police and crashed. All were apprehended and one broke both his legs. See, there is a God......

They didn't go near the studio. All equipment in there is too big or hard-wired enough to prevent easy theft......

Having said that I think they preferred to steal the ipod because it's future-proof....... :verycool:

@TonyGen

Really sorry to hear about that major hassle. Must be a nightmare dealing with the insurance, Police etc, but seems some natural justice was at play in the end. Sending positive waves.

On a lighter note, so bad was Sina172's iPod music selection, they left it and stole his OASYS instead!

Well I stand corrected with my opinion in that poll thread, that unlocking will never happen.
Congrats to those who had not unlocked until now and well it seems that Korg hasn´t forgotten that they have manufactured OASYS ;-).
Even if this is no loss of money for Korg because noone who owns an OASYS and hasn´t paid yet won´t pay in the future they try to do something with the discounts for people who have already paid.
It´s not a deal for me because I do not plan to buy a Kronos but I respect that Korg trys to do something for Oasys customers.

best regards
SoulBe

PS: we should do another poll for the sequencer, the EFxs, and and - no just kidding :D
