Fully working NanoKONTROL2 with Reason 5 (maybe 6?):

Okay, I think I figured out a work-around. Definitely not a fix-all but it's helped me decide that I am going to probably keep the NanoKontrol2.
I add the NanoKontrol2 as a NanoKontrol 1 into Reason and I've just been experimenting in CC mode, and I'm able to get the desired effect, which is seamlessly switching to different synthesizers from the mixer and being able to freely adjust knobs intuitively without reconfiguration.

I might post the profile when I finish it, if there's any request. But it should make the NanoKontrol2 a little more accessible to those who don't want to spend too much time programming cc messages.

I'm beginning to dislike this setup but it's what I got.

Downside of it is all the record, marker and track buttons are completely unusable. They can't be assigned to anything. So basically it's a Nano Kontrol 1 with one less slider/knobby and no scene selection.

So I'm still looking for a better solution.

If you just use it in a mode where all controllers are set up as CCs, you should be able to use Reason's 'Learn' mode to assign the different controls and buttons to different parts of your setup. That includes play, record, etc.

Then save that as a kind of template that you can load up whenever you start a new song.

I don't have much experience with Reason but I've done that before. Can't remember exactly how.

Yeah, I wanted to avoid doing that since when you assign a command to an action, that action is effected globally even if you're outside of that rack.

but, good news. i learned how to program codecs and mappings in remote so reason can support it natively now. i'll post it once i'm done, i'm at about 50%, basing it off the microkorg and the nanokontrol 1 setup. those seem to be closest in layout to the nanokontrol2, but neither are exactly the same.

Finished it. Instructions are included. NanoKONTROL2 now works easily with Reason.

I still have a problem. Reason says it can't find the remote file. I probably know why: because the adress c:\Documents and Settings doesn't exist in my windows (7). So these file we have to copy paste are probably not in the right directory. I used search to find the map Propellerhead software and i found the 2 maps (remote en codecs) but they are in another directory.

So please give us some more help??? thnx in advance

...I wish i had a mac.

Sorry about the long delay with updated instructions for Win7 users.

I think this applies to vista users as well.

The directories are different, they are in C:\Users\All Users\Propellerhead Software. PM me if you have any issues.

Oops, turns out I never tested that version I uploaded months ago. Well I just did and I found out why it wasn't working for the above poster and I fixed it.

Just registered to say thanks for this, its very useful.

the use of the track buttons to shift up to the next 8 faders on the mixer confused me at first, I didn't realise what was happening and thought something was wrong, but once I realised what was going on I thought it was genius.

well done and thanks
