2 kp3s with midi

Post by LouEyez »

Hi everyone,

I've connected 2 kp3s by midi cable, and set the clocks so that one is internal and the other is external, an effectively I can set the BPM on one and the other changes with it but the problem I am having is that when a press one o the sample bank one the master, it presses it on the slave, and I really don't want that.

Could someone please tell me what settings I need to change so that the second kp3 only recieves BPM and nothing else?

Thanks in advance,

Lou

You either need to change the MIDI channel of one of the devices, or change the receiving KP3 so that it filters out Program Change messages.

Assuming you don't want the two to literally control eachother (theoretically pad should go to the same position you press on the other one too), I'd recommend changing the MIDI channels on the two so that they don't match.

Thanks X-trade,

I'll try changing the channels when I home next week and see if that does the trick

Check out the owners manual -- on page 20, there's a section called "Changing the MIDI channel":

Also, Korg has a detailed MIDI implementation chart:

Man I've got so much to learn. That implementation chart might as well be in santscript.

thanks for the info

Update. I changed the channel on the second kp3 and it's now working exactly like I wanted ie only the BPM is changed.

Thanks a lot,

Lou
