Can Kronos preload your setlist sngs when you boot up?

Post by soundsailer »

I've got a few sngs in a setlist and I'd like them to load when I boot up so I don't have to load them myself each time I turn it on. I've read that you can get samples to load when you boot ( haven't done it though ) so it would seem this would be do-able too?

you can prob save a set list, but you still need to manually load a SNG file every time you turn the unit on. it won't auto-load an SNG file on boot up, sorry.

I'd just save the SNG file in the root directory so you can access it easily. I'm sure it wouldn't take long to load it, just a button press, and a couple screen touches, and you're done.

or if you have the RAM to spare I would just re sample and then just make it autoload.

Yes you can do it - I've got my setlist to autoload: anything that's in the setlist (as long as you've written to memory) can be autoloaded.

Pretty sure it's in global (I'm not at my K61 now) under Autoload. You just checkbox what you want Kronos to load.

Pretty easy.

Could you specify? Do you mean Power On Mode "Memorize"?
If the setlist contains songs, they are still not autoloaded, are they?

You're right, but the OP was asking about SNG files that are used in the Set List. As of right now, no, they can't be autoloaded. Would be nice though. But as posted, if you save them in the root, they're easily and quickly loaded.

I was looking in the documentation and had the same doubt.

Is it still not possible in the current version? It's a pain to have all the set lists organized but still have to go to disk mode to load the songs.

Thanks

What you can do is save all songs for a specific setlist in one SNG file (assuming there aren't too many to fit in the memory to begin with) so it's only one step extra.

Thanks for the feedback.

That's what I am doing. I have many songs that are grouped together by context inside an sng file.

Just thought it would be ideal to have it configured to preload as we just would kick the setlist icon and would be ready to go.

Also think it's weird that the set list points to a song that is not loaded and that it cannot also load.

I'm trying to think of some architectural reason why a song file can't be properly loaded at startup ... And I can't find one. Seems like a simple feature to add.

They would just need to do a size check and keep track of how much "song RAM" is left, basically.

+1

This would get my vote as well as a feature for Korg to add. If you can autoload samples, I don't see why there couldn't be an equivalent song autoload. :)
