Read the damn manual.

As the title suggests, anything goes in this section.

well Mike, I subscribe to the RTFM doctrine,

but if I may say a word...

... Korg insiders should also keep in mind HOW manuals are written before they put that F in RTFM.

I am not a noob, I have survived yamaha Japanglish manuals,

but some legal documents pale in comparison to the M3's reference guide...
Ozy.

Clearly this does happen. I used to spend time proof reading Jinglish for version updates that were released; trying to make them as user friendly as possible.

What you have to bear in mind is you have to write the manual to be understood by the most experienced techy and the complete novice...

Call me an idiot! I love reading the manuals.

I have them pdf'ed and on my iPAD for easy transportation to the bathroom.

I print them out and stuff them into binders with other related documentation.

I read them at work.

I took the Roland Fantom G manuals and other documentation and actually merged them into one comprehesive binder. It helped me learn the thing.

My biggest pet-pev is you have print them out yourself too often!

Being here on korg forums, I'd have to say Korg has the best manuals.

The heck with you guys, I am going home right now to read the Kronos parameter guide.

Man, did you try to seek professional help yet? :D (just kidding - I'm a reader type too, but it is so much fun to see it in writing)

I have to admit I normally do not read the manual (completely), however when I have a problem, the manual is the first to read. Luckily I'm very well used to read technical English, altough it is not really that necessary, because I think the manuals of Korg are very clear. Maybe it does not show really what is the right workflow but every detail is inside. I have seen much worse manuals.

I have the Pa1Xpro manual on my computer and printed out in full (courtesy of, but not necessarily approved by, my daughter's office  ). I'm comfortable enough with the manual, my problem lies in just getting it to sink into my fading grey cells.

I also used to print out manuals, but I am not doing that anymore because of the following reasons:
- e.g. for the Kronos (which I don't own yet) the total documentation is about 1500-2000 pages. This is a lot to print, even at office.
- when I am searching a specific topic by opening the PDF I can search in an instant.
- When a new version is available I only have to download the updated version.

Of course reading from paper is nice (but with more than 1000 pages even that is not just something you read on the couch).

What drives me nuts is when folks ask for step-by-step instructions for something that's already fully explained in the manual. Let me get this straight: You don't have time to read the manual, but you expect others to spend the time required to re-invent the documentation and type it in for you?

Now, I don't mind much when somebody asks a questions because they didn't understand the manual when they read it. I'm fine with that.

Some people seem to have trouble finding the bit they want in the manual. Like, they can't read the index or contents or search a PDF.
I do understand that sometimes people don't even know which manual to look in.

I HATE looking through manuals, because most of the time, everything that's in the manual for other products (not including Korg equipment) is either intuitive (like setting the clock on your microwave) or the manual totally SUCKS and doesn't explain its functions well. Korg on the other hand explains everything abundantly in depth and everything you could want is in there, so i've learned to trust their manuals.

Some stuff though is too technical for me (i will never fully understand AMS) so i ask questions about it on the forum. For many people who are new to hardware workstations in general, 95% of what's in the manual is too technical for them (often the ones that call programs and combis "sounds"). just my observation.
