How do I set up a set of styles for performing?

Post by carolyn »

Please forgive me if this has been answered before. I can't find the answer on this forum.

I have a PA588. I have 14 different songs that I love to play. I would like to set them up so when I perform, I can just press the next button for the next song style. Currently, I manually select a style for each song and it takes a lot of time between songs.

All suggestions will be much appreciated!

do all entries for specific songs in the song book, than go to custom song book and you can add from the song book enteries to your custom song book.....this is for the pa2x setup I use.

Yes, the songbook is the best way to organize your setlist.

You should check the manual, as far as i remember the pa588 has an assignable switch that you can assign to "next songbook entry".

The SongBook is fabulous & exactly what you need to manage your sets.
Yes, setS plural, because you can have many different playlists in your Songbook.
If you want, you can use the same Songbook entries for different playlists...

In fact, I think the songbook-feature is one of the best features of the PA-keyboard-line.
You can store almost anything you want in a SongBook entry, including your STS's.

It's worth every minute you spend to get familiar with the songbook.

See for instance:

Lots of success!

Ok. I followed the instructions from the manual and I was able to add all 14 of my songs to the songbook!

Then, I created a "new list" and added each of the 14 songs to the new list, but when I turned off the keyboard, the new list disappeared. Any ideas?

So you made a custom list and saved it? Then just choose it in custom list, it should be there

I click on "new list" button, but I don't know if I saved it? I don't think I did.

I didn't see an option to rename it. It just said... New List

Yes, don't forget to SAVE your new created and/or edited list!
(Happened to me a few times also & can be very frustrating...).

Keep up the good work, you are almost a songbook expert! :D

You are right, I didn't save the custom list. I found the instructions for saving it in the manual on page 67 under the SongBook section.

I can't wait to leave work tonight so I can try it out!!!!

Once you get familiar with the songbook, you don't want to work without it anymore.
Really great tool.

Hint: With a songbook entry SELECTED (name of the entry is bold in the list), you can select and/or edit a performance (upper and lower parts), mixer setting for instance,
and then by just pushing the Shift- and STS 1, 2, 3 or 4- buttons, the performance is immediately stored in the corresponding STS with your songbook entry.
You don't even have to resave your list for that action.
Works like a breeze.

See also my other hints in the thread mentioned in my post above. I have spent quite a while to figure out how to get other pad's stored in the songbook.
Most of the time, I put my PA in 'easy mode', which I find very convenient. For pad's you have to switch to 'advanced mode'.

Good luck! :D
