RPPR assigned to pads?
hey- doing research on the M3- I just assumed patterns that you use with RPPR was assignable to pads and not just keys, but looking in the manual I didn't see anything mentioned about using the pads, which seems like an ideal use for them-
and on the subject of pads... besides creating instant chords and being pads for drum sounds, what are the other uses for pads on the M3?
thanks

Yes! The pads can easily be assigned to trigger RPPR. They can also be assigned CC messages - turning on/off effects, affecting modulation sources, etc. One of the coolest possibilites is to assign SysEx messages to the pads which can do almost anything in the M3 - change programs, change effects, change the drum track pattern. This takes some programming and understanding of the M3 - but this opens up a huge world of possibilities in real-time control over most of the parameters within the M3.
Between the control surface - the sliders and buttons - and its various modes, the joystick, ribbon and SW1/SW2, the X/Y mode for the touch screen, the pads and the possible SysEx assignments, the real time control available on the M3 is truly astounding. And I didn't even mention KARMA. This machine is awesome...

hi guys, i'm new here, just about to buy an m3, i have owned both the fantom g and motif xs in the past but haven't had a keyboard for about 6 months, thought i'd try the m3 as i've never owned a korg before.
My question is with rppr can you can take a midi file, then rip say a two bar riff from it then use it in combi mode like an arp?
Regards
Scott

You can copy (import) anything from a sequence track into a pattern which can then be used as an RPPR. This can be note data, modulation data, program changes, effects changes. You can also use the in track sampling to record audio and then trigger that with RPPR.
However, RPPR is only available in Sequence mode. !!But!! any program or combi can be transfered over to a sequence (keeping all the settings) with the touch of a button.

You didn't like the Fantom or the Motif?theshinenz wrote:hi guys, i'm new here, just about to buy an m3, i have owned both the fantom g and motif xs in the past but haven't had a keyboard for about 6 months

M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion
- I wonder why you can't assign notes that are "off" the keyboard. They have like 16 keys on the far left side that you can't use. they are assigned as "shutdown keys"....alland wrote:First: you assign RPPR to key - it is when you define RPPR
Second: you just assign that same key to pad - as you define what you pad does (using control surface "chord assign" or globally Global:P2:CC assign)
I also wonder if you can make the RPPR pattern follow your chords like Karma does.... (like an arpeggio does)

From a previous Forum on the same subject
It is possible. You have to use the RPPR feature of the keyboard. Rich Formadoni even stated that in one of the youtube videos, http://www.youtube.com/user/KorgUSAVide ... H6TqFbskDc You can call Korg if you have trouble finding the instructions. That's how i got them.
EDIT: Here is a link describing how to do it in detail, http://www.korg.com/ClassDetail.aspx?ID=111
