yeah sure, the reassigning in the style of a shift button would be great.
But I have actually no idea of doing it, sorry. This would require some serious programming in phyton which I have no idea of.

I don't know if assigning the shift ctrl or alt button to one of the NK2s button will work, but it might. THis way you could have the standard Mackie Second Assignments that are available via Shift (not sure which they are, but should be in the document linked above)!! But for user assigned switching assignments I think you need some serious programming, not just changing the IDs.

There is documentation at the link but it is not easy and you might have to edit all the phyton files.

But it should be possible in theory!

agreed, the pots seem not to be easily changable in the consts.py file.

But it is very easy to change them in Live (or another DAW) by using the MIDI Map/Learnign function

Also, I tried and even SHIFT dows not work even if I assign it to a key on the NK2. But it SHOULD work using MIDI OX or MIDIPipe and just manipulating the MIDI messages, but thats another story.

Just found in another thread that indeed Mackie did NOT release the full specification of the MCU in particular the Sysex Part controlling the lights.

the instructions included with the NanoKONTROL2 all were pretty straight forward with how to install it

I do wish the Owner's Manual explained how to use it. The instructions seem to be written for people who have used & programmed a MIDI controller before.
For example, I still don't know how to set between CC mode and DAW mode on the NanoKontrol2. The instructions say

To engage the desired mode, turn on the unit while pressing and holding the button that corresponds to that mode

There's nothing more said about which buttons that might be. I must be stupid, but there's no CC/DAW button that I can see.

Nevertheless, I've got it working in Logic (after downloading the plugin Korg provides) in what must be DAW mode, as all the functions are doing what they should.

But what I actually want, and what I assumed I could do with this, is to use all the transport controls (play/stop etc) as they are, but then free all the sliders & knobs for assigning to software instruments - using the learn function. Currently that doesn't work. When I try the "learn" function while in DAW mode, it doesn't learn, it just does nothing.

It looks like I'll have to study MIDI controllers in general, within Logic, to learn how to do this. If anyone knows of a resource showing an idiot how to do this, in Logic in particular, it would be much appreciated.

I understand youre frustration, its a shame Korg people didnt have this in consideration when creating the nano 2 series.

Luckly there is a way of configuring things by ourselves even when the product designers think we are all happy with the default pre-configured settings.

How much am I a dummie? A LOT!
Before i bought Nanokontrol2 I didn't realize the missing of the slide n° 9. Considering that a Hammond software has 9 drawbars - which is mostly I use nanokontrol for, it's really boring...
Not to tell about the fact that now I have to rebuild all my scenes (now Groups) from the beginning.
I had to buy the 2 version 'cause of the breaking of the USB port of the old device. I see I'm not the only one...

Hi guys, can anybody please help me.
I like the default Mackie control for my Nanokontrol2 in Ableton, but would like just instead of pan knobs to be able to control device parameter of a selected device such as macros.
Does anybody knows how to do it?
