Anybody else have this happen?
At a gig Fri. and Sat. night. Playing along just fine when all of a sudden my M3 changes programs all by itself. No buttons pushed, nothing connected except for sus pedal. Set up the M3 at home Sunday, happens again intermittently. It always changes program/combi one slot down. Can't have this happen live. Reload OS maybe? I checked cable between module and keyboard, all is well. Any ideas? Of course I'm playing twice this weekend and I need this board to work properly. I can't be playing a piano ballad and all of a sudden it switches to a karmafied gangsta rap.

Yeah, everything was connected properly. I thought maybe it had something to do with the electrical in the club, but it happened at home also. I hate to take the board in with a problem that only happens intermittently, but the stress of taking the board out for live use is killing me. i have to constantly watch the board to make sure it doesn't change program/combis on me.

Drama1,
Doesn't sound like OS issue.
Look under global to see what the footswitch is controlling and if it is set to inc/dec try selecting some other parameter or none in case the FS is closing intermittently for some reason.
Also try this: get some "canned air" (high pressure air only in and aerosol can with needle type extension) and blow out in and around both the up/down increment buttons and the footswitch jack.
Changing environments, specifically temperature and moisture, can make intermittent things like this happen.
Also check to see that there are no parts rattling around inside (a loose screw could bridge the connections in the FS and might move to other parts of the instrument). Rattle = BAD.

Re: Anybody else have this happen?
It's happened to me a couple times with both my M3 and Triton. Not sure what caused it though.drama1 wrote: all of a sudden my M3 changes programs all by itself.
Hasn't done it in awhile and only happened once live, thank God!

It's always worth considering that playing aggressively or in situations with loud sound levels (vibration conduction), the alpha wheel or value slider could turn/move slightly.
Try selecting a parameter or something else on the screen such that the data entry controls won't change patch. Then see if it happens.

This may or may not be practical, but you could copy the combi (or program) to a free bank where there is no slot below it or to a location where the slot below it is less of an abrupt annoyance.drama1 wrote: It always changes program/combi one slot down. This forum is GREAT. I took the module off the keyboard, used compressed air on all the buttons/sliders, recalibrated aftertouch, pads and screen, double checked foot controls, after I put it all together, turned it on, it did it again. For some reason I touched the alpha wheel and it felt like it was between notches. Doooh. I sure hope that was it. I'll keep you all updated. A little off topic, after much consideration I've decided to keep the M3 and hold off on Kronos. Let's see what NAMM brings. Thanks again to all.

Sounds like it... This happens to me on occasion with the M3, and IIRC, the Trinity did the same.drama1 wrote:... For some reason I touched the alpha wheel and it felt like it was between notches. Doooh. I sure hope that was it. ...
Very rare, but I guess to be safe if you're performing, just click the datawheel to the next firm notch during the set-up, and then it should be fine.
