Syncing my Emx with MC 909 via Midi

Post by Jimboeh »

Hi, I just got my hands on a Roland MC-909 and I'm having trouble getting it to sync with my Emx!

I'm using the Emx as a master and the 909 as a slave and I want them to be synced at the same tempo, how do I do this!? :?

Right now, I'm getting the same tempo but whenever I change channel on the 909, I get the same keyboard "play" on it as I have on the Emx "synth 1", and I only want them to start synced and play at the same bpm...most annoying!

I guess you have to change something in the Emx midi settings but after reading the manual, I'm still confused!

Any help is appreciated!

See page 80 of the EMX to learn about filtering MIDI events. You need to filter the MIDI events on either the EMX or the MC-909, so that it will ignore the events you want, like midi note events.

That did the trick! 8)

It was supposed to be OXOX in the midi settings!

Hi jimboeh!... Glad you sorted the sync issue.
How are you finding your mc909?
That thing is a beast for some serious sounds!.... but what do you make of the sequencer? I find mine 'drifts' when synced to my tribes(and even itself when multiple drum tracks are playing) Everyone raves about the 'rock solid' timing on the mc forums, but im not so sure.

Iv checked all quantization settings but to my ears it sounds alot looser than my korg stuff.

Great combo though, hope you have fun with them!
