It really makes everyone sad who ever played a real Music Production Center. I started with Roger Linn's LM-1, later bought the MPC3000, sold it, got the MPC4000, sold it just to buy after a while the MPC5000. Its effects are still of poor quality, the VA synth is ok, but nothing to be worth to be mentioned, scrolling thru the sounds is just.... well now I have the MPC3000 again. Best groove and best sound when it comes to drums. If one likes to have a sampler than the MPC4000 is ok as well, but this new one is only one thing - embarrathing!
What they should of done was added a stand alone option as-well so do all you editing seq etc using software but then be able to dump it across to the MPC and use it live with out the need for a comp ... as it is its just a Maschine in beige ..... :/

that would be great! or at least keep it as an option or may be another version which is able to do that.
anyway, besides Twitch..it's the only pad controller with audio/midi interface which is interesting to me as an additional controller for Ableton Live and Launchpad. specially when it's fully supporting Ableton like the APC and the price is right.
does copying maschine and spark really continue a proud legacy, or just drive it further into the ground?

and just like the maschine you're forced to use it with the computer. Would have been better if you had the option to choose with or without. who wants to be stuck behind a comp?
Thats the one thing that made me never even bother looking at the maschine. I had a friend who always insisted that I should buy one. I mentioned Electribe...and he had no clue what I was talking about.

.
This is what I find puzzling,Are Akai not aware of why the MPC(every model) are so popular and they are the best alternative for those who would prefer to not rely on a computer.
At first I thought it may have been a Hybrid option so you could run it standalone as well as in a virtual way but it appears that its simply a Hardware PC controllor built into a MPC casing, who wants to buy an MPC to have a Laptop in tow!!!!
Great.. Another MIDI controller?
I want real hardware..
No doubt it will be better to use this with Ableton or something than MPC's own software, but will be interesting to see what they do with it.
