Kronos thoughts
I have had a chance to play with both a 88 key Oasys and a 73 key Kronos. While there are some features in the Kronos that is good ( setlist and smooth transitions). It seems that the Kronos is the poor mans version of the Oasys. Any thoughts?
Yeah...Oasys has nothing I wanted. I bought the Kronos for sounds enabled by modelling and disk streaming tech--EPs...AcPs...drums (w/ambience mics)...and the Cx3, which is the only thing in there that the Oasys has.
If you can play the Oasys EPs and AcPs (available on the Kronos) and think they come CLOSE...I'm gonna say it's been a while since you played an acoustic or vintage electric piano.

This 'poor man's' version is feature wise the best synth available ...
Did you also check the price difference between the Kronos and Oasys?

I've never owned, played, drooled over an Oasys, so I don't need to compare.Fishtown wrote:I have had a chance to play with both a 88 key Oasys and a 73 key Kronos. The Kronos is awesome.
KRONOS is built a lot easier to carry, weights --10-- KG LESS!!aron wrote:This has been argued over and over. Only the construction may be the poor man's version.
And a few other upgrades.. Solid State drive, USB functions, cooling system etc..
For me, the weight of the instrument and of course the price made the major difference.
And the option for 73 keys with hammer action! (Which is what I've bought).

"I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy" .... just my Kronos!Fishtown wrote:It seems that the Kronos is the poor mans version of the Oasys. Any thoughts?
Yamaha S80, Kronos 61.
I've owned both. If I was given the choice of buying either or both today....I would choose Kronos (again, months after my early adoption of Kronos). Oasys has better build quality, for sure. But if you take care of you stuff.....Kronos is fine, and its features (including its compactness compared to Oasys) are a clear advancement for me.
