Wishlist for iKaossilator!

Post by Jimmy C »

I love this app!

But I want to be able to import my own samples!

I also want to have control over the FX section!

And in general I want Korg to make WIST more reliable. I often find that my devices have trouble finding each other. Plus, it shits me that I seem to have to stop my slave device in order for the master to be able to control overall tempo with the slave. Does anyone else have this problem?

I agree with you.

People have been asking for what you want for a while, sort of an amalgamation of the KPro and KP3. But with those capabilities I think it would make more sense to do this with hardware, not software.

Also loving this app!

I'm already getting tons of use out the Kaossilator app on my iPad 2.

Two things I'd like to see (apart from what others have mentioned above):

1. the ability to toggle a visual grid on the touchpad

2. a metronome

1. the ability to toggle a visual grid on the touchpad
This can and should be implemented. After all, both the KP3 and the KPro have grids. Only problem, of course, is that not all scales correspond accurately to an 8x8 grid. But of course you should check out some user made grids that seem to fit most of the scales.
2. a metronome
I usually just use the beat counter on the bottom of the screen. But an audio cue would be helpful too, besides just the visual.

well... i personally also would love to see the grid mode for the iKaossilotor... been so used to using the grids on the KP3 and the KO Pro....

but heres a cool thing that could be done(addressing the 8x8 grid problem) what if the grid WAS AN ADAPTABLE GRID!!!! wherein the grid of the X axis changed according to the Scales chosen while still maintaing the regular 8 on the Y axis(or maybe 10 to even out the step ratio)...

E.G. = so if we chose say a Major pentatonic then we should only have 6 blocks corresponding to the notes of the scale on the X-axis while having the Y-axis with a standard 10 blocks for modulating the sound(0% - 100%{yup 10 definitely sounds better}) and it would all be controlled by the scale chooser, but most importantly have a flick up/down gesture added to the key/scale tab on the main play surface to switch the grid on/off...

since i'm on a roll here... i would also love the ADAPTABLE grid to contain an option of showing the names of the keys while the grid is adapted to the key/scale settings selected by the user!!!! that way u can even have an option of learning various key/scale combos if u arent some whizz at music theory.... you can then sell it in the education category too!!!

Agree with Phaseshift - With an actual hi-res phone/computer screen on the iKaossilator, self-adjusting play-grids based on the current scale are the logical next step from the regular Kaossilator and will make a quantum jump in its live playability.

+1 for note grid. Would be much easier to see what notes you are entering as it seems impossible on most scales to enter the same notes in another channel

Also how about being able to maximise the Kaos pad to fill the whole iPhone or iPad screen ? That would make it easier to enter precise notes

Virtual Midi is prob on everyone's wish list along with sample import

Lastly I would like to be able to copy a pattern from one channel to another so I can duplicate parts with different instruments

Oh and one more thing; an eraser button so you can tap to enter "Breaths" or remove single notes from a busy or badly played sequence rather than replay the whole pattern. You could select the eraser icon and then tapping in the kaospad would remove notes rather than add them, simple but very useful !

Eraser button is a brilliant idea!

+1 for all of these good suggestions:

ikaossilator wish list

Post by 5SN »

Everything else that everyone has said and also (and apologies if this has been said before) I'd like ikaossilator to work in landscape view on the iPad. The elements could be rearranged with the box on the left and the other controls under each other on the right or something like that. It would be much easier if it also worked in that view especially when switching between ikaossilator and other apps.

I'd love to see a landscape mode, so i can leave the ipad located in my Alesis IO Dock. Its not practical to rotate the dock when all the cables are connected.
All these suggestions should be easily within reach of the Korg programmers!!!

Landscanpe mode on ipad would be good. The 1st thing i notice when i open the app is that i have to collapse the ipad case and turn it portrait

How about being able to customise a scale (think animoog's scale selector where you can choose the notes which make up the scale). An enhancement to this would be to add chord mode where a single finger plays all notes selected on the scale.

Would REALLY like to be able to easily play a chord in one channel and follow the root note in another chanel (eg bass or lead sound)

More control over what notes are played would make it easier to integrate into a sequencer when you export as audio

OR

Midi file import would make this a remix monster in your pocket !

Hope you can add some of the features mentioned in this thread, everyone's submitted great ideas here !

Cheers

Desperate for these two things, easy to implement

Post by tastygroove »

You can tap a bpm past the decimal point, but can't set one manually. This makes it very hard to beatmatch in dj sets. Life would be so much improved with this little thing alone.

Number 2. I NEED to transfer and backup my save files. iPod and iPhone users regularly upgrade and have multiple devices. I dont want to share my original productions with the community to do this. Seeing the next to empty share list.. I can see I'm not the only one. I'd be so sweet to be able to Bluetooth or wifi beem between devices, but would settle for access via the iTunes share folder.

I've had mini panic attacks when losing or misplacing my iPod.. It's value is meaningless compared to the value of the time invested in hundreds of save files.

And a number 3( I know I said two) but on the bonus list would be individual instrument volumes. Everybody is asking for this though.

Thanks korg for bringing this app to us. It brings joy to my life.

If you go to settings and turn on tempo lock, then all the tracks play at your set tempo, which you can change at any time
