Can the Korg R3 loop itself? I just bought a digitech jml2 looper, but unfortunately you can control each layer that you loop- it just becomes one big sound. So transitioning is tough. I was thinking maybe a computer software like ableton would help me with this. Any help?
I am trying to loop, then loop something else, but be able to cancel out the first sound and not have to stop the whole thing. Thanks everybody!
Korg R3 looping ability?

You can use any audio source for audio loopers, and you can use any midi synth to be controlled by any midi looper, so sure, the R3 will work fine with any kind of looper. It just doesn't do any looping by itself. The only complication is with monophonic audio loopers, because the R3 is best used with a stereo audio looper, since it has cool stereo effects. That means a lot of guitar loopers aren't great for looping any stereo synths. Ableton Live is great for looping, and other software is good too. Fruity loops is popular too, but Live is more powerful and professional. Ableton Live is used for major tours like for Daft Punk to control their whole show. There's lots of really cool midi controllers for Live from Akai and Novation. There's also Maschine and other midi loopers to look at too. It can easily take 6 months to a couple years to become proficient on a range of DAW packages like Live, Protools, Maschine, etc. But it's an awful lot of fun learning how to use them. It can eat up hours and days just learning how to use small pieces of DAW software like the builtin SoftSynths and Audio FX.
I use a Korg Kaossilator Pro to loop my microkorg. Its great fun.
Check out this guy looping his Kaossilator pro and microkorg into his KP3. Good stuff.
