Radias USB Editor Problem

Post by Mutiny in Jonestown »

Hi all,

I just tried hooking my Radias up to my PC via USB to download sounds and I can't get the sound editor software to communicate with the Radias. I'm using the Korg USB-Midi Driver 1.13 and the Radias sound editor 1.00. I've followed the sound editor manual and set midi input port to "Radias 1 Kybd/Knob", midi out to "Radias 1 sound", and note midi in to "Not Use". when I try to receive or transfer I get a "Device Inquiry Error."

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Dennis

I had the exact same problem - along with a number of crashes in the editor software when trying to select a MIDI input for 'Note MIDI IN'.

I ended up removing the USB cable (although I think this isn't strictly needed) and using DIN MIDI connections via my (always very reliable) 4x4 MIDIMAN USB/MIDI interface.

I can now even select a MIDI input for 'Note MIDI IN', and everything seems to work. It doesn't solve your problem, but it's a working work-around for me.

I'm using Win7 64bit.

How funny, I did the exact same thing with a 4x4 Midiman USB and it worked great for me too

Editor USB problems

Post by VoKo »

I have experienced the same problems: nothing can be sent from the editor via USB: after each trial the following message is shown: Transmit program faild: device inquiry error. When you use a USB/MIDI interface, everything works fine.
Has Korg tech staff ever reacted to this? This bug is a shame, as MIDI transfer is slow like a hell, which may be really troublesome - in live situations for example.

Hi all. Perhaps, the problem appear because you use the same Radias' port in SoundEditor and your DAW at the same time? In my case - it is so. When using separately, USB - for SoundEditor, MIDI - for DAW, everything works fine.

If your Radias is V2.0, make sure you are using the V2.0 editor too - it is misleadingly packaged with the download for the update file. The one you download separately is the older version.
