OS won't install
Hello,
I have tried to intall the new OS 2
Unfortunately it keeps on searching for installation files after pressing ok button. Message: update system, searching for install files
I copied all files and 1 folder (exept for manuals) to an formated (32FAT) USB stick
Any suggestions what went wrong?
Regards
Olaf

Have you checked if your usb stick is recognized properly?
Just open it in disk mode and look if you can see directory entries.

Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5
Make sure you extracted the zip file to the root of your memory stick.

I thought it was supposed to be everything including the manuals LOL. isn't that how the help menu manuals get installed?QuiRobinez wrote:also be sure that you don't use a bootable USB stick, that won't work.
The steps are really simple:
- extract the zipfile to a folder
- enter that folder
- copy everything except the manuals directory to an empty usb stick
Then is should work.

yes, those are the files you need, that should work. Otherwise try a different USB stick. For instance some of those USB sticks have a U3 program on it with autostart, that kind of sticks don't work.Olaf wrote:I have formatted an USB stick (FAT32)
I copied the following files in the root:
mnt (folder)
bc
DisplayUpdateMessage
install
Kronos_Update_2_0_2_CSum
Kronos_Update_2_0_2_tar.gz
mdssum
posttar.ch
pretar.sh
In diskmode these files are visable

It faiuled on me first time too - but this was because I had all these files and also the unzipped V2.0.2 folder (containing the same install files) on the same zip drive. So the Kronos hung - probably got confused with the 2 versions on the same drive.
Anyway - deleting the folder and it installed right away.

This happened to me too at my first try. Second try was a success. I just restarted my Kronos and reinserted the USB stick; no reformatting or anything. Just some strange hickup. (I had the keyboard freshly started the first attempt also, but I had hot-plugged the USB (which Kronos supports, but maybe something went wrong there...)
