memory in pa3x

Post by wango »

Hello All

I'm new to this forum and being mainly a singer/songwriter-drummer
I'd like to purchase a pa3x for inspirational and creative purposes rather
than playing live gigs. Certainly I'll use my own drum grooves in new
created user styles and while singing and playing I'll want to record my
voice as well. Can someone enlighten me on how "what is stored where"?
I mean, in the 76 model there's a HD, a 4GB flash drive and a 256mb
sample memory which can be extended to 512mb with the exb sample ram
card. I guess the HD would be for BU and the like, but where for instance
would go my voice recording in my example? Flash drive? Or the imported
wav files of my drum groove? Flash drive or sample ram?
Sorry if all this has been covered before but I'd like to find out if there's
enough memory available for my purposes, and if not how I can work
around it. Thanks for your input.

I think you misunderstood.

The 61 key version has 4GB flash drive
The 76 key version has 250GB hard drive but no flash drive

So if you record your voice, which would be via MP3 up to 256kbits, then it would go onto the hard drive

For your wav samples, you would store the .wav file on the hard drive, but load it into sample memory (256MB) when needed. A battery then keeps the samples loaded when you power off the keyboard so you don't need to wait 10 minutes for them to load again each time. If you then decide to load different samples, you still have the .wav file on your hard drive for future use.

Thanks, so there must be a wrong information on Thomann's website
in Germany regarding the flash drive on 76 key models.
So if I understand correctly, the voice track (mp3) would be read from the HD during playback of the recording. Thanks again for your answer.
