Hi, I'm lost looking for answers. I've been using both midi and audio (mic) to record into my Presonus Studio One Pro software, but I'm unable to get the midi drum and arp sounds to record along with my song. I seem to be recording only with their S1 software instruments. (Unless I use my mic--which is poor) The Korg sounds are better.
Is there a way to include the KORG combis including the accompanyment through the midi cables?
I guess that I'm using the Korg as a midi controller and I need to use it as a sound/tone generator(Does that make sense) How do I do that?
I have a sound card and am using Presonus audio box usb which works fine.

In broad stroke terminology, here's what you need to do:
1) Download the M50 Editor Software Version 1.1.0 and install it on your system.
2) Download the latest version of the KORG USB MIDI Driver (revision of 9/13/2012) and install it on your system.

You can then use the M50 Editor as a virtual instrument plug-in inside of Presonus Studio One. Here's how:
After you've installed everything, shut down the computer. You will connect the M50 to your computer in two ways - via USB (for the MIDI signal - this goes directly into your computer from the M50), and via ¼ inch audio cables, running from the L+R outputs of the M50 into the instrument inputs on the Audio Box.
Power up in the following order:
1) M50
2) Audio box and computer - this way, the computer will recognize the M50
Launch your session in Studio One. Create a MIDI track (or "instrument" track - I'm not familiar with Presonus' terminology). Find the KORG M50 editor in your VST folder. It should be listed there within Studio One. Drop the editor onto the MIDI track as a VST. Then, create a stereo audio track so that you can capture the AUDIO output of the M50. This is how you will get the M50's sounds into your session. This is how the M50 integrates with your computer. It communicates with your computer via the MIDI umbilical, but the sound output from the keyboard is sent as analog audio via standard instrument cables. The M50 does not transmit any sound through the MIDI connection.
For further details and information, go to the KORG web site and download the manuals for both the editor and for the M50 itself.

Wow, what great info
Thanks so much. I wasn't at all aware I could drop that editor on as a VST. I'll get to it this weekend. Eager to see if it works.
What a great help--and fast.

Got it through to the Presonus software
Well though leery to mess with the updated system (worried about losing all my hard earned user combis) I downloaded the driver, dropped the old editor on an instrument track and got messages on the piano roll editor with several different Korg instruments.
I have to work out minor sound stuff yet, but with your help, I finally got the big part done. I truly appreciate your taking the time to give this lost soul some good advice.
Thanks.

BTW: Visited your site and am impressed.
