Hi, Can anyone give me a link for a beginner to understand how to make use of native mode. I'm not a programmer. I have read those popular link from korgforums for setting up native mode but all it has was the hex numbers and all buttons, lights, etc. I just cannot understand anything. Please guide me how I can make use of all the buttons, especially i was looking for octave up and down commands.

you need to learn a little of programming to use native mode.

native mode is way overkill for an octave shift.

i think you can do that in padkontrol settings anyway.

or use a midi effect in your sequencer host (if you use any)

or set up you pad banks with +1 octave on each consecutive pad bank

Thanks Dave,

I'm ready to learn some programming. Where can I get learning tools?

Unfortunately, padKontrol doesn't have octave shift/bank shift keys. Even there is no CC message for Octave shifts.

regards

I don't have my padkontrol for a very long time now, but I remember a setting called base note or similar, you could set it to c3 or c4, (to be able to match yamaha middle c tuning) or anything else really

I learned quite a bit from max msp.

in fact I learned programming with pure data and max msp(they both include tutorials) and now I do web development in ruby... so it's a great learning curve and a fun thing if you're interested in doing your own musical stuff

Is it from here that I can download Pure Data?
http://puredata.info/downloads/pd-extended

Where can I get those programs which will contain tutorials?

Thanks

KordsKontrol

Here is what can be achieved thanks to the padkontrol native mode and (a lot of) Java code:
https://kordskontrol.com
The Korg controller is the best match for such project
Thanks for the sysex resources! :D

Hi

Most of the posters are probably using other controllers now, but maybe someone knows about what I am looking for.

The other buttons on the left side, I remember a script called stutter that made them speak both ways with lights on ableton 5 or 6.
That would mean that contrary to what Fat Elvis wrote, the other buttons ( meaning the non-pads actually do send and receive data, presumably sysex.

My question is: do those buttons send and receive something that could be translated on the fly by a tool such as bomes?

PadKontrol as step sequencer, Max/MSP, etc

Post by kaminski »

I wish different use cases for the PadKontrol would get more attention even now, in 2021.

I've just started using KordsKontrol and it goes *deep*.

Not a programmer myself and not particularly technically minded so I'm grateful for all tips I can get.

I just downloaded Dave's github resources for the PK as a step sequencer in Max/MSP but I'm having some trouble getting the PK to communicate with Max. I'm not sure what the problem is.

If anyone out there reads this and has experience with it, please get in touch.
