Small trick to clear all the RAM quickly
Hi,
these days I'm working a lot with Soundfonts, loading and unloading them in the Kronos making sets of multisamples and programs. Sometimes I need all the RAM free to have enough space to load them.
As far as I know, you can unload banks of multisamples going to Global P0 > Sample Management > upper right Menu > Unload all in a bank > select the desired bank to unload, and repeating that for every bank you want. You could also go to Global P0 > KSC Auto-load > unmark the "Auto-load" check box for all your banks and select the "Do Auto-load now" option. In my case, I have almost 30 KSC (counting some of the standard EXs and my own banks) and I consider that neither of these ways is quite practical if you have a big amount of banks.
So, I've made a small KSC file with no samples inside, that lets me clear all the RAM in a snap.
You can download the file from the link:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gchcp9f2riht4sx/CLEAR_RAM.KSC
To use it, copy the file to the HD in your Kronos. When you need to clear all the RAM, load the file "CLEAR_RAM.KSC" with the "Clear All" option active and voilà!: Exs 0MB, Samples 0MB and all the free RAM at your disposal before you can load new Soundfonts.
I hope you find it useful.

the suggested way (from Korg) to do it is to just uncheck all the autoload files (the red boxes) and then select "do auto-load now"
clears it completely out in a flash.
clears it completely out in a flash.

Hi apex,
of course you can do things in that way, but if you have a lot of banks, let's say 30, you have to unmark the red check box 30 times, do the RAM samples operations that you want, save them, etc. and finally, come back and mark again the red check box 30 times to have your usual bank configuration as it was before.
If you have to repeat that process a lot of times, your index fingernail will become shorter than others after some days
Using my KSF file you don't need to go back and forth and you can let your Global KSC Auto-load configuration untouched.

If you're loading a SoundFont you don't get the option to clear RAM.SanderXpander wrote:Why would you need to, exactly? AFAIK, whenever you go load a bank or sampleset, it'll ask you to clear the RAM or append, right?
Thanks Kroozwavesfactory.

Ah I didn't know that! Seems a weird oversight. Thanks for the work around!burningbusch wrote:If you're loading a SoundFont you don't get the option to clear RAM.SanderXpander wrote:Why would you need to, exactly? Hi,
thanks everybody for your kind comments!
I had the idea for that workaround, because I wanted to avoid the tedious and repetitive task of mark/unmark a lot of times, but I think it would be better if a definitive solution could be done by KORG in future updates providing at least one of these possibilities:
1. In the Global P0 > KSC Auto-load screen, add a pair of "Select All" and "Unselect All" buttons.
2. In the Global P0 > Sample Management > upper right Menu, change the current option "Unload all in a bank" for a new one "Unload all in selected banks", and in a new dialog window lets make a selection of banks to unload as in the KSC Auto-load screen.
Regards.
