Autoload on the M3

Post by miden »

When adding the Korg EXPC M01-04 additional banks, do you also HAVE to have the usb drive connected?

It seems if I do not have the USB connected, non of the sounds are available?

Thanks

you have to connect your usb drive (including KEP files) and select autoload in the OS

however, if your internal flash is updated, it can support KEP files, in this case you don't have to connect your usb drive (KEP will be loaded directly from internal flash card)

...the second proposition is not an official solution (needs to extract the internal flash card to update it !
secondly, this card might be changed (depends from your M3 release date) to support extra memory needings...

Hi Dennis!

You need the same ram module (EXB-M256) that is used in the Pa2XPro
(it was first made for the M3), then you can have more than 3 KEP-files loaded in memory at the same time, but you lose sampling memory.
With the EXB-M256 installed you have 256+64 total ram in the M3.

Thanks Tom - in that case as I wrote in my OP, I already have that installed...

But the programs still do not load when the unit is turned on without the USB drive attached..

UPDATE: I have since learned that earlier models only have a 256mb SD card internally...this can be upgraded and I found the info on the Karma Labs WIKI..
So it looks like problem solved as soon as I can get the SD card :)

One thing not mentioned in the wiki article: You don't actually need a separate SD card reader. Connect USB to a computer, hold SEQ & EXIT while powering M3 on to put it into USB storage mode. SD card will appear as a drive, copy contents to computer. Power off & replace card, boot to USB storage mode again & copy the original contents plus KEP files to the new card.
