Midi control

Post by keysman »

Hi, Maybe a dumb question but please humour me if it's the case

I have a Pa3x & Krome & I want to if possible to change the program (intsruments)on the Krome via midi from the Pa3x so that I can play the Krome with sound selected via midi. Ideally what I am trying to achieve is that the control changes are produced from the pa3x sequencer so different instruments can be changed during the sequence i.e lead synth, piano etc as required by the song.
The Pa3x will be the master keyboard.

Have read the manual regarding channels etc but would welcome anyones expertise on the way forward with the midi canannels etc to acheive the above & whether control change messages can be inserted as events in any particular track of the sequence.

Hope it makes sense & look forward to your comments (keep em clean)
Cheers

Your question requires that someone use both keyboards in the exact manner you are asking about in order to provide you with a definitive answer.

You should be able to do it. That is one of MIDI's primary functions. But that said, there's some RTFM time that needs to be spent finding out whether/how the controlling board (Pa3x) sends out ext. MIDI channel and voice data. You need to understand how that works from the controlling end - both bank selection and program location, plus which MIDI channel is being sent.

Also, your Krome needs to be set up to receive those patch change commands and allow the Pa3X to override the usual controls - that would be in the Global MIDI preferences somewhere.
