How to switch combis/programs from MIDI ?

Post by CJ4ever »

Hi all,

I have a question about triggering with MIDI.

Set-up for live gigs with band: I have the Yamaha MOX6 and on top of that I want to use my Korg Triton Le. (No clash intended, I like them both)

What do I want: with MIDI select the Performance or a Song (or Performance or Song in a Master) on the MOX6, and when I do push the button, the Triton must also go the the right Combi or Program.

Where do I start ?

Why: We switch quickly between songs in the setlist, and lot of times too busy with the fingers on the keys to easily switch buttons etc.

Btw: I do know how to set up midi-channel settings when using an external 'empty' midi-keyboard, but that is not the case now. I just want to use the sounds of the MOX and Triton seperately.

I did look for this question but could not find it (or I did not look good, or I didn’t understand enough if something was written about it)

Is the thing that I ask possible anyway ?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

I wouldn't know how to do it using only the keyboard(s). I've used a computer in the past running Digital Performer (Logic or Ableton Live also work for me) to send patch and bank select messages to several pieces of outboard gear via MOTU Midi Timepiece units.
Always in need of assistance.
