Samsung galaxy tablet or Ipad (3)?for korg apps??

Post by AnthonyB »

Hello,

Not had a tablet before, and i was looking at the samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet and the ipad 3 (new ipad). I'm having an iphone 5, so was wondering if i'd be better getting a Samsung Galaxy tablet

However, i was wondering if Korg do "apps" for the android(s), like korgs ipolysix/ims20/iElectribe, and other korg apps that i see on ipad.

The Samsung Glaxy is about £100 less, and yes, it doesn't have a retina screen like the ipad, but still

Cheers:)

No, they are only available for iPad and iPhone/iPodTouch.

For many reasons, Android is a less popular platform for music software development.

Just to add to what X-Trade said,

I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for my wife for Christmas. They are doing a great offer at the moment. If you one buy one in the UK or Ireland, you can register online and get £50 cash back.

You have to wait for 14 days from the purchase date before you can register for the £50 cash back. This is to stop people handing back the tablet but pocketing the £50.

So, all things considered, the Galaxy Tab 2 is a mighty lot of tablet for very little money.

Regards
James

Thanks for the info there Xtrade.

Sharp, I am buying one for my brother for christmas, and "maybe" one for myself. Does that mean i could claim £100 cashback, under section 20 of the link below
""20. There is a maximum of 10 units per customer during the promotional period. Business customers who have received special pricing including bid pricing from qualifying retailers are not eligible for this promotion
"""

I'm not a business , so should be ok???

Sorry I can't check that because the link displays and error for me, it's also a different link to the one my wife has to go to.

I'm pretty sure there will be no problem at all. This is a promotion for customers, and I'm sure they just don't want business claiming the money. If you buy two, I'm pretty sure you will get two separate payments of £50

I'll post the link Christine has later today when she gets home so you can see it. We must be coming up on the 14 days here, so I'll see if we can run through it ourselves here tonight.

PS... there's 3 colors to choose from.
White, Black, and Silver/Grey

The White and Black ones have a glossy back, but the Silver/Grey one has a matt finish and looks more like the back of an iPad. For what it's worth, we felt this was the better surface finish as it was not glossy and it gave better grip. The glossy finish on the white and black ones also were finger print magnets.

Android is Java crap.

MIDI and GL ES on iOS is C code, that sucks.
But the rest is still Objective-C and mostly uses the iOS frameworks.

There is no way Android is becoming a good MIDI platform because of the dreaded garbage collector. They would have to redesign Java to become more like iOS.

But things can change.
