how to record vocal?

Post by mikey224 »

I am trying to record a song while singing. I can record instrumental tracks, but the manual is not clear on whether or not one can record vocals. Does anyone have any pointers? Thanks

On page 101 from the user manual (Recording a new Song (MP3 file))

With Pa3X, you can record your performance as an MP3 file. Keep in mind what follows:
• All you play on the keyboard, the Styles and the Standard MIDI Files performed by the Players will be recorded.
• Any audio signal entering the Audio Inputs is recorded (single microphone input with the “Mic In to Voice Processor” option selected, or the Left and Right line inputs with the “L+R to MP3 (no Mic)” option selected. See “Audio Setup: Audio In” on page 215). Harmony voices generated by the Voice Processor will be recorded as well.
• You will not be able to load MP3 files while recording an MP3 Song, and you will not be able to record an MP3 Song while an MP3 file is playing.

You will then be able to play the resulting MP3 files using the Pa3X Players, as with any other MP3 file.

So the answer is yes, you can record your singing (with harmony voices if selected).

In case you haven't worked it out - the way to start the mp3 recorder is to hold down Shift and press Record.
Also you can then press exit once recording starts to return to your main screen/lyrics screen etc and still keep recording. Then press Shift Record again to bring up the menu to stop.

Recording Pa3X Vocals Over Recorded MIDI Song...

Post by rock1009 »

Just curious...is there any way to add recorded vocals thru the Pa3X audio inputs over a previously recorded Pa3X MIDI songfile and turn everything into an MP3 file? If not, what would be the simplest way to add recorded vocals to an already recorded Pa3X MIDI file? I find it hard to sing and record backing sequences at the same time. Thanks for any help...Pa3X Rookie.

If you mean to create mp3 file by joining midifile with vocals then its easy done by playing back the midifile in SONG PLAY mode and singing live - microphone should be connected to input of Pa3x. Press SHIFT+Record to invoke mp3 player, begin recording, start your midi file and sing.

If you want to mix your midi file and prerecorded vocals into another midi file, then I don't think it's possible. You could mix them into mp3, like I showed above, just playing back prerecorded vocal from external player connected to Pa3x input instead of singing live - but ... synchronizing them could be very difficult.

Michal...thanks so much for your kind and prompt response. I am new to the Pa3X and have not explored nearly all it can do. Your advice will help me greatly. Thanks again.

I'm glad this could be of any help. I also get a lot of help from this forum.
This is the beauty and the power of Internet.
