Why Can't KORG provide Update services as Yamaha does

Post by coachmike »

Just received an email from Yamaha showing their Spring Sale on several items to update present keyboard products they sell. Why can't KORG provide such services like Yamaha with Midi Songs, Style Files, Piano Soft, and other updates? As an ower of a Pa3X I think it would be great that you could go to a KORG store site and purchase such items to keep improving the present products rather than wait for a new keyboard arranger, etc.

This is exactly where korg falls down badly. They should concentrate more on existing customers to keep them with korg.
I suspect that Yamaha has such a huge following because they do exactly that.

You seem to forget that Korg provided 62 free styles since the lauch of the PA3x. I don't see Yamaha doing that.

If you want an upgrade on Yamaha, you wait two years and buy the new. Model. Korg is pretty good about updates, and even addressing things we ask for.
There ARE lots of styles available for Yamaha, BUT it will still have Yamaha drums.
I have both, so I can criticise without feeling guilty

Yamaha NEED to have a sale - in fact they should give their styles for free. The Styles and sounds I bought from Yamaha for my Tyros are disappointing, way way too expensive and from a performance/recording point of view were unusable.

Similar to you Don, I used to own both - trust me, Korg styles are way more authentic than Yamaha's.
To me, Yamaha focused on great intros and endings but the VARiations were over-simple and basic.

Korg have provided (FREE) many styles - see all the Style Volumes on their website - there are hundreds of styles.

Load up and use all the Korg-supplied styles and not only will you have over 1000 style on board, you will have just about every genre well and professionally created.

I recorded and performed with my band with Yamaha Tyros and Korg PA - direct comparisons - there was no contest - Tyros had to go!!

(Yep, I can criticise too without feeling guilty  )

The only thing i love whit Korg, Is that they are generously Giving things away, like New features, New Styles, And OS, Yamaha is great on the Sound side, BUT, on the System and other things , KORG IS KINDLY Best

It might help Korg to separate style giveaway from OS update.

It's not that Korg don't do as much as Yamaha (in fact, they do a lot more!). But they don't blow their own horn as effectively...

If the last OS update ONLY updated the OS (as you would think an OS update is supposed to!), and then Korg came out with a highly promoted 'Free, New Styles' addition, nobody would ever be writing posts like the OP...
