Which damper pedals work with Krome?

Post by miraclemaestro »

Hi all,

I must admit I am a Korg newbie. Worked with Yamahas mostly in the past. So, I just purchased a Korg Krome 88. I thought all damper pedals were interchangeable among brands, but I guess I am wrong?

I have been trying to get my Yamaha FC4 to work with Krome, but no luck with half dampering. The sustain is either all on or off. Any suggestions on other damper/sustain pedals models that would work? I've been trying to purchase a Korg DS1H pedal, but it seems to be out of stock at most places.

Excited to join the Korg community here. Thanks for any advice.

Regards,
MM

If you want half damper pedal, go for Korg DH1H (the one I have, is great).

Do not buy Yamaha FC-3, it will not work (I tried !). Yamaha FC-4 is suposed to work with appropriated configuration.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I think I may look into the Roland option. I never knew there was incompatibility with damper pedals.

miraclemaestro, there are damper pedals that has only a switch (on / off) like the Yamaha FC-4 or FC-5, these pedals can be configured to work with Krome (just inform switch polarity).

Half damper pedals like Yamaha FC-3 and Korg DH1H are more complex, they send a different electrical signal for each pedal position (not only full pressed and full released). Problem is that they have different signal levels....

morty, good to know that Roland DP-10 works on Krome. Does it work as half damper on Krome?

Actually didnt try it, but as far as polarity I bought it the same day as the Krome and the DP10 was suggested over the Korg pedal for the difference in price.
The Krome, once the polarity is adjusted, the DP10 works fine everytime
and I love the no slip rubber pad that comes with the Roland its great on stage whether carpet or any floor...genius Roland:)

I suggest go to a store where you have both products it only takes a moment to set the polarity on the Krome check out the half dampering before purchase ....I dont use that feature. But the DP10 is a half damper pedal.

Noticed that Korg has now released a 3 pedal unit (bundled with the SP-170DX digital piano). Will the pedal unit be sold separately? Will it be compatible with a Krome (i.e will the soft and sustenuto pedaling work with Krome's grand piano)?

Krome Pedal

Post by HOOS »

Hi guys,

You can change the polarity setting within the Krome so that you can use any sustain pedal. Press the "GLOBAL" button and then touch on "P2- CONTROLLERS". You can then switch from "Korg Standard (-)" or "+".

Now you can use whichever brand and model you like. :D

Keep on Korgin'!

X2 I have the Roland DP10, works great with the switch on "continuous" and the global settings modified for the right switch polarity. It's a nice pedal, very heavy duty.
