Noob question

Post by Chaos27 »

Hey guys

I just bought a Korg M50 and did a quick latest driver update, plugged in my usb, Windows 7 64bit, stereo mix enabled, but I don't hear anything?

I'm able to use it as a midi controller inside FL and Reason, but as far as using the Korg built-in sounds I can't even hear it.

The only way I can hear it is to take my desktop speakers jack 2.5 and connect this into 1/4 jack and plug that right into the M50 audio output. But I don't like this! If I do this I cannot hear anything on my computer anymore.

I would greatly appreciate if somebody can tell me what the problem is. I chat a lot in Paltalk (a free chat room instant messenger) and I need to enabled my stereo mix when I get on mic and play my keyboard live so everybody in the room can hear me. I have a Yamaha MO and XS and it work fine with just usb. Why doesn't it work with this keyboard? Am I missing something?

The M50 does not support audio over USB. You will have to connect the audio outs of the M50 into the computer with an audio interface.

Yeah I figure it was something like that. Would a midisport work? I sold my audio interface just recently cuz I was planning to upgrade. Don't want to spend a whole lot at the moment.

No, Midisport won't work for audio recording.

To hear audio, you need audio interface connected to outputs.

The workflow with MIDI driven devices is that you send events and control messages through MIDI and the device generates sound on its sound output.
