Wishlists for KORG PA3x/PA4x
Moderators: Sharp, X-Trade, Pepperpotty, karmathanever
Why isn't the wishlist a "sticky" item..
I can't see it anymore in the Korg Pa3X section.
These are very important for me..
1. MAXX Audo and effects to OUT1-2. At least an option to set in ON/Off in Global Output menu if some like to have OUT1-2 dry. I prefer same as output LEFT/RIGHT.
2. Main volume slider controls all outputs. Left/right and Out1-2.
Above 2 wishes are standart at the Pa1x. 4 outputs gives an realistic sound on stage.
I hope that this will be possible with an software update.

The Pa3x really does seem to be a "quart" fitted into a "pint pot". Korg have done a remarkable job to extend the life of an original design based on the Atmel Dream processor family. The designers are to be commended.
I know how difficult it must have been to find extra space in the limited address range of the Atmel Dream processor family to fit all the extra features of the Pa3x. I believe part of the reason for having a new algorithm (and hardware) in the Pa3x to compress samples even more than e.g. on Pa2x and Pa800 was to free up some address space for the new features. That is the main reason why there are incompatibilities between the Pa3x and the earlier models such as the Pa2x.
When space is so constrained, a designer has three choices:
a) Limit the features so they will "fit" the available space.
b) Abandon the current design and start again with a new processor family.
c) "Persuade" Atmel to increase the address range of the "Dream" processor family.
Apple made choice (b) when they designed their own low power processor core for the iPhone and iPad. The Apple processor is based on the Nvidia Tegra 3. Apple and Samsung invested about $4 billion in fabricating the A5 processors around the Nvidia Tegra 3 licensable cores. I personally believe that the "best" future for advanced keyboards and synths also lies in using something like the Tegra 3 in new designs.
Unfortunately for Korg, this would mean a huge investment cost which the market for synths and keyboards will not justify.
A cheaper option is (c) and (a) in combination. From the past record, I think that is what Korg will do when designing e.g. a Pa4x. They will await new developments from Atmel to increase the address range, and then add new features when a new processor in the same family is available.
Meantime I think there is little chance of squeezing any more major features into the OS of the Pa3x. Bug fixes only, I suspect. I am sure all the "best ideas" in this thread will also be useful to Korg when the Pa4x is designed. Don't hold your breath about any of the suggestions resulting in a new OS for the Pa3x though. What you see is what you get. And what you've got is already a quart of software fitted into a pint pot container.
I say the above from guesswork. I have no "inside knowledge" apart from that gleaned by disassembling and repairing my Pa2x.
People often say "memory is cheap, why not fit more on the Pa series". The answer is that Korg are in the hands of Atmel who are the only ones who can increase the address range of their processors so that extra memory (ROM and RAM) may be addressed.
Best regards to all,
Rob

Would be great if , if we could program switching off simultaneously drum perc and bass tracks off using only ONE assignable switch. This is possible ie for tracks ACC1-ACC5.
Another cool feature: changing variatnion style using aftertouch.
The next one: possibilities of changing ie snare drum sound (one shot - not its parameters what is Korg pa3x does) within the drum family in drum edit mode.
Graphical piano roll editor in edit style mode
Rename function for playlist name in the SongBook
The above could be released with the new OS.

Quantized Strength And Swing / drum waveform popup
In my opinion, two things we need...
1) "Quantize Strength" parameter when creating and quantizing styles. None or 100% as the only options is not acceptable. We need to be able to adjust quantizing strength anywhere from 0% to 100%. There should also be a "Swing" parameter added too. Come on guys, this was on the first drum machines from the 1980s!
2) When selecting Kick and Snare and other drums that play in a style, we should have a pop up that allows us to select ANY drum waveform- not just 5 or 6 pre-selected ones. This is a total waste of the amazing power that the PA3x has.

Ribbon Sensor pressure sensing and additional modes added?
Can the ribbon controller on the PA3x be made pressure sensitive? It would seem this is possible. Why not turn this on on the OS?
Also, can the ribbon sensor be made to work as latching and non-latching? So if you take your finger off, the last value remains.
Also, can the ribbon sensor be made to be "relative"? So that you can put your finger down anywhere on the ribbon and that initial location becomes the center point.

Re: Wishlists for KORG PA3x/PA4x
I'd like to have more spaces in the 12 Favotites and users to save more styles for my performance at least 6000 spaces, and increase the PCM
That's all I wish
That's all I wish
More space for styles will be very very good enchantment! Maybe new tab, like usr\fav2
But the first thing that I need is a PA600/900 styles & sounds management through context menu with possibilities to rename, delete, copy, move.
And the second one - to make a possibilite in LR output mode (without using 1&2 out for a mic) to use master fader to control volume of keyboard leaving the mic setting controlled with it's separate knob. And also I would prefer to change a Double button to assignable, for example Hardpitch. And rev\delay knob to control only delay level.

In other words, Korg, take a long hard look at a Kurzweil...bugzoo wrote:Can the ribbon controller on the PA3x be made pressure sensitive? It would seem this is possible. Why not turn this on on the OS?

Best ribbons EVER!
Re: Wishlists for KORG PA3x/PA4x
The hard disk or memory of PA3x has got enough room where you can save all your recorded mp3... why not adding more FAV/user tabs? I am really running out of space... I need more for perfomances and styles.congan2 wrote:I'd like to have more spaces in the 12 Favotites and users to save more styles for my performance at least 6000 spaces, and increase the PCM

I also like to have the factory performances as well as Fav. Just like the Style section we have a user tab which all user styles go in but the factory styles are untouched.

1. I wish they add new option : Custom mapping Program change and control change for external MIDI controllers.
Of source provide us with full midi implementation list.
2. Make available to Sync all controllers, button , sliders including Pads via MIDI Message.
