Is there any way to set the correct date in the OS, so that when I save song files to the SD card and view them on my computer I can tell when they were created or modified?
Also, what is the 3 digit number shown to the left of the song file name? I am guessing that it is a sequential number showing the order saved. (ie, newer songs get the next number). Why then do all the midi files I put on the card before I bought the KORG MA, have a number, and what does it mean?
Another also: Why am I stuck with 8 digits filenames in a fairly new (2011?) product? That is 1990's OS technology!
Thanks

Some answers
Hello Will. Here are some of the answers to your questions.
I scanned the pdf version of the 240+ page MicroArranger Owner's manual. It appears the MicroArranger operating system does not support setting the date/time of the instrument. I'm afraid you are stuck with the problem.
The numbers (actually they are 4-digits) are generated incrementally by the MicroArranger. They can be used as a selection shortcut in Song mode amongst others. Details about this feature can be found in section "Selecting a song composing its progressive number" (sic) on page 70 of the Owner's manual.
We can only guess as to why the Korg engineers chose only to support 8 positions for the filename. I suspect the limited width and resolution of the LCD might have been a consideration.
MicroFingers.

Thanks
Thank you, Microfingers, for taking the time to look into finding an answer to my question.
I came to the same conclusions you did. "You cant get there from here." (As I heard the Firesign Theatre say once upon a time.)
What I have found helpful is to create a seperate directory on the SD card with the name of thesong (in 8 character version), then I can call them what ever is easy , ie "NEWNAM1", NEWNAM2", etc.
Gotta go now, thanks again.
