Korg has deaf ears. Maybe all the loud noise working in lab on the keyboards has taken its toll. Or, maybe they are sleeping. They can't hear us.

Very dissappointing.... given the history, we are truly wasting our time but it needs to be said so they know how users feel... highly doubt they care though...just Look at the last OS update.

Just had to say something because i have spent my very very hard earned money here.

I am about to purchase a new arranger. Would someone please post a link to the kind of non Korg editor that works for another brand of arranger.

I'm just trying to understand what these editors actually can do and of course to try to understand why Korg Italy has never felt it necessary to release one for the PA3x.

Ian,

You might want to check out the Yamaha arrangers over on http://www.psrtutorial.com/forumIframe.html

You will find all kinds of editors for free there for the Yamaha arrangers because Yamaha has provided plenty of information about their keyboards that allows folks to produce these editors.

Having said that, the Korg Pa3X and the new Pa900 have the best on keyboard editors combined with the touch screen I've had the pleasure to work with. The only complaint I have is the file storage method using the "set" files for export, making it very difficult to work on files external to the keyboard.

Well, If everyone writes down what they really feel about this program that is missing for us users, I have a hope!
I do not think Korg would just ignore us, I think together we can make a discrepancy and some really brings up the subject.
So keep write here and on other forums KORG snooping around here.
If they really do not care, my next keyboard will not name KORG for sure.

Couse like this , I'm not happy.

(Any reference to Korg below is "Korg Italy" - not to be compared or confused with Korg USA/UK/Japan etc..)

I think that if Korg included a "PA3X Editor package" in the original price of the keyboard then we'd all be happy.
This would mean that Korg would have costed the exercise accordingly.

I am NOT making excuses for Korg here but in reality, to create such software now would cost time and money - I do not believe that many businesses in 2013 can afford time-consuming giveaways.
An option for Korg would be to entrust their proprietary OS structure and design to a third party organisation which is prepared to invest in, and develop the package.
The same "business" issues arise - will it be cost effective? etc..

So if we were to get any "Editor" it is almost certainly going to cost money.

I agree, and this is raises another issue - I believe you will find that many owners would not necessarily spend money on an "Editor" for the PA3X, however a few owners are screaming for it and I am sure, with good reason.

Also from Korg's perspective, there are a lot of requests for an "Editor" throughout these forums but many of those requests are very specific and also different.
To design such a piece of software, then you would need detailed specifications which would hopefully incorporate all the "editor wishlists". Even from a high level perspective - is it a STYLE editor or PROGRAM editor or both??? etc...

An extensive survey of "editor" requirements would be essential to ensuring there would be no wasted effort.

If there were such editors, I would consider them if their specifications suited my needs.
Asena wrote:If they really do not care, my next keyboard will not name KORG for sure.
I don't believe it is ever an issue of "don't care" otherwise we would not have been GIVEN all the extra STYLES, SOUNDS and FEATURES for free that we now have.

Good luck though - I think this is truly over for PA3X but who knows, PA4X might have one!!!!

Or, you could send them a detailed, convincing business case for a "PA3X Editor for PC & Mac"...

Cheers

Yes, we all know this, that Rob Sherrat, a programmer offered his help for free for KORG, what he needed was that they would give a feedback, but KORG did not even mailed him back, which they promised him, I saw the email itself as he got from KORG
It is precisely this that made me not trust it more.
Things that cost much less, has an editor
Everyone who works with this Keyboards, are fed up
Slow system, insufficient memory, many bugs, no support,
we just have different forums for solving problems,
They could have made this possible, but they seem so into next KORG Keyboard series that must come to the market so they care simply no more about it.

They got the request, they got the best programmer who ALWAYS trying to help, but they do not even respond to an email.!!!

He has already developed things for other brands in keyboar world.
but Korg seems not interested, or don,t care
Also, some of us did that he lost the interest , we lose them best, and most valuable things about our behavior.

Instead of being understanding and make things better.
I Respect this forum, Couse JUST ASK YOU,r Selfs, How many thisgs are solved from here, But not from KORG.

And about the FREE Updates, Anyway, KORG are not finding the BUGS, We are, Couse we are, The BETA TESTERS for years now.
We pay for help them, So why cant KORG give use Feedback than?

I like my KORG,s BUT there is BIIIIIG difference, KORG Japan, & KORG Italy.

Best resg.

Well said Pete! You saved me a lot of typing! ;-)

I think the bottom line is that KORG (Italy) believes they have provided all the 'editor' that you need in the keyboard itself. Designing, coding and supporting two editors is not cost effective. The other issue is that if they were to create an external editor, it would be MUCH easier for a 3rd party to reverse engineer their proprietary system architecture. With it buried inside the keyboard, it is much harder to access. My 2 cents for whats it's worth. ;-)

All the files in the SET are more or less some compressed versions of the XML files, plus some MIDI parts for styles.
If Korg Italy shares its compression algorithm, it would be sufficient for many community developpers to bring a sound design software, a librarian and maybe some style editor too.

Come on Korg Italy, share your compression tool, we'll do the work for you and spread the good brand name all over the arrangers players.

I'm sure the third parties producing localized sound resources already have this kind of editor, no need for Korg to write it from scratch.

Yes - well put Rick.

I am NOT arguing against an Editor, neither supporting Korg's silence but let's face it:-

1. These are requests to a company (Korg Italy) to spend time, money and resources to develop a new product for which there is no business plan or justification.
2. These requests are on a public forum!!!
3. Rob Sherratt (one of the best keyboard technicians, and a hell of a nice guy) didn't get anywhere with Korg Italy but I think there were more details around that.
4. If you want any remote hope of this product, PLEASE contact Korg Italy!!!
5. If we (anyone) expects Korg Italy to invest in this, then, as I said before, please contact them with a business justification.
6. Remember the current financial state of the world - I do not want Korg to go under - I would rather that they invest their time in new PA or OS enhancements.
7. What other arranger has an Editor? (genuine question from me - I am not aware of one).
8. What other professional arranger is there on the market? (Audya, although way behind now, is the only one that comes to my mind)

My feelings about Korg Italy are quite simple:-
1. I am more than delighted with my value for money regarding my PA3X.
2. My PA3X does EVERYTHING the manual and specs say it should do.
3. I am also delighted with all the functions, SOUNDs & STYLEs that it does IN ADDITION to its formal specifications.
4. I AM BIASED now because of this and my experiences as an owner of other brands of arrangers.
5. I support good service and so far, after many years from i3 to PA3X, that is what I have had.

These are just my feelings with explanations - I don't want to be accused again of being blinkered or unjustifiably biased.
If some other vendor comes up with a better arranger, I'll be on to it straight away.

Sorry - raving a bit, but just trying to say please "CONTACT KORG" if you want a new product.

Cheers
