Update went perfect. Just make sure you back everything up first and don't touch a thing or lose power. I didn't upgrade to the new sounds yet as I didn't want to lose my sounds as I have a gig. I'll do that later on.

New startup screen is pretty :D

I wish the Mute Mode could be set per Combi rather than Global - but I get why it is like that.

Seems we have had a bunch of threads here trying to do things the new function assign allows. This is a really important and great part of the update in my opinion!! :)

All the new sounds and updates complete. Painless and rewarding - hope it is the same for all.

I tried a few of them....not sure what was changed, but the Leslie sim might have been better before. The horn now sounds like it crossfades between slow and fast rather than spins up. I didn't have a lot of time to play with it, but that was my first impression. Hopefully the old sim is still in there somewhere.

There is suppose to be three different types so might want to check which sim setting it is using haven't tried it myself.
heres the blurb looks like you can go back to the old sound too
We've added a brand-new effects section to the CX-3, with many updates and improvements to the Amp, Rotary Speaker, and Vibrato Chorus, including:

• New amp model with warmer, smoother overdrive and more natural control from the expression pedal
• Three new speaker types, including one based on new measurements of a classic rotary speaker, another inspired by a popular rotary speaker pedal effect, and a third for bright sounds to cut through the mix, each with an option to include some of the direct signal for greater high- and low-frequency extension
• Improved stereo sensation, including revised mic distance control
• Many other improvements to the rotary speaker's timbre and authenticity
• Improved Vibrato/Chorus, more true to the original hardware
A new parameter on the CX-3 Basic page, Amp/VC/Rotary Mode, lets you switch between the old (Classic CX-3) and new (Custom) versions of the effects independently for each CX-3 instance, as desired. For more details, see “4–1c: Amp/ VC/Rotary mode” on page 229 of the Parameter Guide.

the subsystem is a separate update. Download it and read the enclosed instructions.
Heres the instructions minus the graphics mine is OSX Windows will be slightly different:

KRONOS/KRONOS X Sub-System Firmware Update - Mac OS X
Updater compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
This updater is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
KORG USB-MIDI Driver required
Before running the updater, please make sure that you’ve installed the KORG USB-MIDI Driver version 1.0.9 or later. An installer for the driver is available for download at www.korg.com/kronos/Support, in the “Drivers” section.
Compatible with both KRONOS and KRONOS X
This update is compatible with all models of both the KRONOS and the KRONOS X. In this document, all models will be referred to collectively as the “KRONOS.”
Updating the firmware
1. On the KRONOS, hold down the ENTER and PAUSE buttons. While continuing to hold the two buttons, turn on the power.
This will put the system into firmware update mode. The display will be blank, and the Bank I-B LED will be turned on.
2. Connect the KRONOS’s USB B port (the single, boxy connector, as opposed to the two flat connectors) to a USB A port on the computer.
Note: it is important that USB is connected AFTER step 1, above.
3. Double-click the file "KRONOS_Sub-System_mac_604.dmg."
This opens a disk image containing the updater.
4. On the disk image, double-click the file "KRONOS_Updater_V06R04" to start the updater.
The window on the next page will appear.
1
Note: the Software Version will always display “0.00 (needs update).” This information is not used by this version of the updater. Also, it is not necessary to use the “Detect” button.
5. Press the Update button to start the process.
If an error message is shown, confirm that the KRONOS is connected to the computer properly, and that version 1.0.9 of the KORG USB-MIDI Driver is installed on the computer. Also, make sure that you perform the KRONOS power-up sequence (step 1, above) BEFORE connecting the USB cable.
During the update process, the following window will appear. The update will take several minutes to complete.
VERY IMPORTANT: Do not turn off the KRONOS during the update process.
2
When the update has completed successfully, the following message will appear:
6. Quit the KORG System Updater, and reboot the KRONOS. Now, the update is complete!

Just updated the subsystem too, all good.
Like others have said. LOVE the new boot up screen.
Don't know if I'm just imagining it or not but the screen seems more responsive.

Please take pics of the new boot up screen. I'm very anxious to see it. My kronos is on its way in from Sweetwater. Brand new Keybed replacement (under warranty). I can't wait to get it back, I hope the installed the new os for me. That would be awesome.

I'm really impressed that for the second time, Korg really listened to the user base to incorporate new features for an update. I realize many people still feel other aspects should have been updated, but mute mode and CX3 (particularly the leslie) has been lamented on here numerous times. I'm super excited about the update, perhaps I can finally leave the Ventilator at home! :)
