Then I went on Google with the search 'Kronos sustain' and found quite a few links reporting this issue with Kronos. I updated my OS in the Kronos to 2.06 from 1.04 and I haven't really had the issue since although one note did stick, but that was only once. Try updating the OS and see if that helps....?
I think this points to a question that has not been asked, what version of the OS do you have?
The OS update is a no brainer to identify a software v/s hardware issue. I'm a 2.06 but soon I'll be updating again. So far I have had no real sustain issues (knocks on wood) since.

Since the problem made its first appearance, I have updated the OS twice, and I have the latest version now, 2.10. It hasn't made any difference whatsoever, so I don't think it's an OS-related issue...

Maybe it's time to take it back? I feel for you. Does the sustain occur if you boot it up without a sustain pedal plugged in?

Man, I can't believe all these Kronos issues and I just bought mine (Kronos 73) 2nd hand about a three months ago (albeit for $1000). I suppose there by the grace of Korg go I as the only thing I experienced (so far) is the sustain issue which seems to have been fixed with the OS update…

I'm also keeping my M3 module (not currently in use), as I can see that staying long term, depending if I find any more Kronos issues with mine.

Latest (2.1.1) update didn't fix the problem, nor did the workaround with the Karma Slider work. The problem appeared again on my last gig and I'm seriously considering improving my karate chops on the board!!!

I'm at a dead end here, I bought the board from US and I now live in Greece so there's no way to take it back to the dealer... The authorized dealer here won't take it back and the authorized service center didn't "service" the board at all... I don't know what else to do, and I really want the board to work and not sell it, as it's really the best workstation out there... What could the fault be and how can I track it down????

Does the board sustain notes without a sustain pedal plugged in?

Yes they do, but on a very random pattern... They stop hanging if I plug the pedal in and press it a couple of times, but then they get stuck again at some point, and even if I unplug the pedal they continue to hang on a random basis...

Mine would stop hanging if I plugged the pedal back in probably because it's getting a signal as it's being plugged. Same with unplugging notes would hang. Since it's hanging without a pedal I'm at a lost as to what to suggest. I've since kept my M3 module as a spare.

Is this issue related to Hardware or Software?

I would contact Korg directly and explain the situation. The keybed assembly is a weak point in the design and I suspect yours is faulty.

I have 2 healthy K61s now, but I've had trouble with two others that I've had to return (one for sticking C5 on organ patches and one for intermittent notes not working).

Here's an idea: Try another keyboard MIDIed to the Kronos and DO NOT plug the sustain pedal in the Kronos but do try it in the other keyboard. Do the notes still hang?

I think it may have something to do with the operating system myself. I've never had a hung note while using it for about a year. After updating to the latest O.S. I was previewing the new organ sounds from disk mode and everything was fine but when I started playing the U-G bank EXS3 option sounds I was getting hung notes all over the place.(ONLY IN THE U-G bank) Everything else was fine. I rebooted the KRONOS and the hung note problem wasn't there anymore. I tested previewing the new organ sounds from disk mode and BAM the hung notes returned right back in the U-G bank.
Now I don't want to load any of the new organ sounds to keep everything safe. I believe it has something to do with memory protection or some type of parameter conflict with sustain?. My question is do you get hung notes in all the banks or just a user bank? s**t.

MIDI'ing another keyboard to the Kronos would identify whether it's an OS issue or the keys , one hopes.

No, it's not the keys.
I moved my EXS3 in U-G to U-DD (and routed the EX3's Combi's to there of course so those still work) and loaded the organ sounds into U-G. Now everything works perfect. No hung notes anywhere. Go Figure.
Maybe we get hung notes when previewing Programs that are set for patches that already have programs in them? Could it be a patch routing problem in the data somewhere? All I know is I'm gonna keep what's working alone from now on. I don't like the fact that the editor can turn my memory protect off which might of caused some of my problems in the past.
