Hello there I am looking for some help for our keyboard player. She bought a new SV 1 and within 5 minutes of her first practice with it she proceeded to drop a bobby pin (not sure if they are called that in the US and UK but just think a long metal split pin used to keep long hair out of your face) onto the keys. The bobby pin then disappeared down one of the cracks between a white key and a black key.
At first every time you pressed a black key you got no note but only a clicking sound as the key hit the bobby pin. Now the pin has moved itself and the keyboard plays fine but I am worried that the metal could react and cause corrosion or just move around and create some damage with the electronics or cause long-term wear on the keys.
So we want to get rid of the pin. There is a panel on the underside of the unit with lots of screws in it which indicates to me that it is there to create access for servicing and repairs. Has anyone removed this and if so are there any nasty surprises or tricks to removing it that would help to know before embarking upon its removal? And also if it is removed will we be likely to find the offending pin? In other words will it give me access to the area into which the pin has likely dropped?
Cheers
Grant

Disassembling the SV-1 is certainly possible. But there are a LOT of screws to undo. There's a service manual floating around the 'net somewhere - links have been posted several times previously in this forum if you search.
Without the service manual, I wouldn't start taking it apart.
