Krome w/ Reaper

Post by Dahnesta »

Hey everyone. I Have had my Krome for a while now. New to Reaper and Using recording interfaces. Can anyone lend me a hand with this issue i'm having. "I want connect my Krome to Reaper and use the sounds I've created on the Krome instead of the midi samples in Reaper". :?:

By audio cables your meaning MIDI cables? So use an audio cable instead of a USB.

No, he means 2 1/4" audio cables, connected from the Krome's audio OUT jacks on the back, to the audio IN of your computer's sound card /interface. The Krome does MIDI over USB, which is why Reaper can communicate with it. The Krome does Not do audio over USB.

Well I can get the Krome to hook up through the usb cable to a MIDI track in Reaper. But I havent been able to get sound. But the whole ideah is to use the kromes sounds instead of Reapers. Apologize about the stupid questions, still noobish to all this stuff.

Using the Krome USB you can record midi (=the notes you play on the Krome keyboard) in Reaper. You can also play them back to the Krome but the sound will still be coming out of the Krome audio outputs.
If you want to process the sound in Reaper or export in into a wav or mp3 or combine it with other audio or really do anything at all you'll need to get the sound from the Krome into Reaper. For that you use audio cables and (usually) an interface (soundcard).
