Hi.
I'd like to run Cubase 7.5 and the padKontrol editor/librarian at the same time so that I can quickly set up scenes to control the various soft synths/drum samplers etc.
At the moment only one of the programs at a time seems to recognize the input port... i.e. I can get the editor OR Cubase to work, but not both. The editor says no device connected when Cubase is run first, or if the editor is run first then Cubase doesn't respond to the padKontrol. Any suggestion?
Cheers.

Wow. I have EXACTLY the same problem and just made a slightly less clear post on the subjectDeety wrote:Hi.

At the minute I can play most of a drumkit, but not being able to edit each trigger to correspond to the drums/sample I want is obviously a huge issue

I would assume you both are using Windows? If so, there are two potential causes for this that I know of.
1. You’re using the standard Windows driver that gets installed when you initially connect the controller to a USB port. This driver is NOT multi-client meaning that it can only be used in one application at a time. The solution here is to simply install the padKONTROL’s driver per Korg’s instructions.
2. The DAW you’re using is 64-bit. For some reason, the padKONTROL’s driver does not properly support use in a 64-bit application and 32-bit application (such as the padKONTROL’s editor) simultaneously. There is no straightforward solution to this unfortunately. You could connect the padKONTROL's MIDI ports to a USB MIDI interface that features a multi-client driver in which case you wouldn't be using the padKONTROL's driver (you'd also need to power the padKONTROL via AC and not use its USB port at all). Or you could can use middleware (like MIDI-Ox) and virtual MIDI cables (like MIDI Yoke) to get around it, but it’s a bit convoluted.

Excellent! In terms of this being a new solution/suggestion, haven't read this before. Not so great in that either scenario could be my issuemetastatik wrote:I would assume you both are using Windows? If so, there are two potential causes for this that I know of.

1. I let Windows install the driver automatically when I plugged the NanoPAD2 in. I've tried deleting the drivers, but this happens any time I plug it in? I can (and have) then installed the Korg version from the relevant folder, but not sure if the previous version needs to be uninstalled first, and if so, how to do that as uninstalling allegedly requires the device to be disconnected
2. My DAW (Reaper) IS 64 bit. No reason why I can't install the 32bit version though? Might cause some issues with various random plugins but that's ok
Going to give both a try
Thanks for your help so far!
